Will this collar I made be strong enough?
I crocheted a collar with a handle, also called a deployment collar, out of Red Heart acrylic worsted weight yarn. It is single crocheted and a tight stitch. The handle is connected with crochet, then folded back and crocheted over again, picking up two rows on the connection points.
I am not thinking of doing protection training, as she's 5 years already, but I think it would be useful when company comes over so I can reach down and correct her if she gets out of hand.
My dog doesn't lunge but she runs upp to the door and barks at guests. She doesn't show any aggressive behavior except for barking. I made the collar so that I wouldn't accidentally hurt her by pulling on her fur if i grabbed her regular collar she has on now.

I have no clue how to crochet but I sure wouldn't trust a large breed dog with a crocheted collar. It should be fine for a small dog if it is just for show

really it depends on the type of dog that you have if its a huge German shepherd who tends to lung at people then I would have to say no. But if its a smaller breed or even a large breed that doesnt lunge and you just want the collar to work with her then i would say that it would be okay. But if you have a lunging dog i would suggest leather or a heavy nylon.
