Menu for a Baby Shower?

I am hosting a small baby shower (no more than 10-15 ladies) next week. I would like to go with a more sophisticated, elegant, almost garden party theme. She is having a boy so I am doing blue table clothes, white china, glassware, and blue hydrangeas and lilacs for flowers. I am a little lost about what to serve for the menu. I was originally thinking of doing everything miniature but that doesn't really fit with the elegant theme.

I do not want to do chips and dip or those type of items. I know I am doing a mayo based salad in little shot glasses, deviled eggs, and mini crab cakes. For dessert I was thinking of doing the cupcake rattles, fresh fruit, and either mini creme brulees or pot au chocolats.

I know that I need more items and am simply looking for suggestions. The shower is at 2pm so we won't need a full meal but any more refined appetizers that you could suggest would be wonderful. Or if you have anything adorable (like the cupcakes) that would be great as well!

Thanks!

i would do tea sandwiches. a couple light salads or slaws. a fruit tray, veggie tray with dips. wine or champagne spritzers with fresh berries. mini tarts or petifours for dessert to go with your ideas.

chocolate dipped pretzel sticks drizzled with blue "chocolate" found at michaels or ac moore. could be the take home gift.

i'd be happy to send recipes to you

A unique game that was played at my baby shower was: Get a bowl, pour in some uncooked rice, and mix in about a handful of safety pins. Blindfold the players and see who can pick out the most safety pins. Of course you can go with the classic baby word scramble, and see how many words one can make out of mom's or baby's name. As far as the menu..my baby shower menu was more like a Thanksgiving dinner! Something I would not reccommend. People are there to snack/munch, not get full. Whatever you decide, just keep it light. Say, meatballs, wings, chips & dip, fruits & veggies, cake and punch..simple! Good Luck! Baby showers are so much fun!!

I would do Zucchini Bakes I served these at a party and everyone loved them. I would also get small petifour cakes with blue baby shoes made out of icing, instead of a large cake. Also, strawberrys dipped in blue white chocolate.

    ZUCCHINI BAKE

    3 c. thinly sliced zucchini

    1/2 c. chopped onions

    1/2 c. chopped green pepper

    1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese

    2 tbsp. chopped parsley

    1/2 tsp. salt

    1/2 tsp. oregano

    1 clove minced garlic

    Dash black pepper

1 c. buttermilk biscuit baking mix

    1/2 c. oil

    4 eggs

Combine first 9 ingredients in a large bowl and mix until well blended; set aside. In blender container, combine biscuit baking mix, oil and eggs. Cover and blend on HIGH for 1-2 minutes or until ingredients are well mixed. Add to zucchini mixture and stir until ingredients are evenly distributed.

Pour into a greased 13x9x2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes. Cut into squares to serve. Yield: 12-16 luncheon-sized servings or 2-2 1/2 dozen appetizer-sized servings

    -Smoked Salmon on cucumber slices.

-Mini Broccoli Ham Cups...http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/mini-broccoli... I tried these at my father's retirement party and they were a hit! You can do some sort of spinach dip inside but the recipe was good.

-Try a chocolate fountain vs pot au choc...looks prettier.
