How long does the First Time Homeowner Credit take to process?
We bought our first house this month and filed our Form 1040X 2008 Amendments with Form 5405 to claim the $8,000 First Time Homeowner Credit. Any idea how long it takes the IRS to process the refund?
We've heard everything from one to 12 weeks, but I can't find a specific estimate from the IRS.gov. Has anyone else filed or heard what the processing time for this simulus is? Our home improvements are basically on hold until we receive this funding.

We recently amended our taxes to get the $8000 also. We tried to check online to see how much longer but it would not provide any info so we called them. We were on hold a long time but we finally did get to talk to a real person who told us the date that they received our taxes and told us it could be up to 8 weeks. And so we wait...

So wait.
The amended returns have flooded the IRS (including some fraudulent ones), so the IRS is having trouble getting them done by 12 weeks. Don't even call to check the status until it's past 12 weeks as the IRS won't post them until they are working on them.

Assume 12 weeks. The IRS is dealing with a LOT of amended returns this year.

%. up the telephone/call your agent..he can answer you as to in the event that they're going to offer you a verify or a credit. that is uncertain they're going to bypass back greater effective than 3 yrs regardless in a refund quantity/the different 2 years would be lost given which you didnt call it to their attn that all and sundry grow to be kosher w/your place inspite of each thing; 36 months is frequently the ceiling for money refunds. purely you will get this responded/call the agent n discover out what provides...what are they doing/he's familiar with or will understand....

You filed in time? Just confirm IRS has your paperwork?
Wait it is the gov. -- you can not rush them or you might get audited.
