How do I keep from getting freaked out after watching horror movies?
Ok, whenever I watch a horror movie I ALWAYS watch it with another person, I leave the light on, I leave the door open, and my parents or my friends parents are always home, plus, whenever I watch them it's always during the day and very sunny. So, how do I keep from getting freaked out so badly?

Because they are meant to freak you out. But they are not even real so they are not scary!

I'm exactly the same as you. I get freaked out by the slightest little thing. Even in the night, if I hear a noise or it's too dark, I have to turn on my lamp for a bit until I calm down a bit. I have to leave the door open a bit too. So, if you get freaked out really easily, it's normal - maybe you're concentrating on the movie to much, or you simply just got scared really easily. Don't worry - there's nothing to worry about.

This happens to many people dear
Don't feel embarrassed
Im a therapist in this subject and i get this all the time
You just want to make yourself feel ore secure and comfortable
Its natural ok so don't worry
Just try and relax and think about the good things
Block out the bad and say its not real in your head 3 times
I hope this helped

Cause your scared easily? Some people are freaked out easily...maybe your one of them. If you want to stop getting freaked out, just think to yourself that there is no way what is happening during the movie can ever happen in real life.

Just keep in mind that these are simply made for pleasure and entertainment, it is a fantasy. It's just like say, death metal music, meant to give you a thrill but it's all just imaginary, all for fun. I myself stopped being so terribly afraid after I got depressed and didn't care much anymore.. haha but that's a different story! I also used to just laugh at horror movies, despite my fear, to make me feel better.

You wanna be freaked the f**k out? Watch 'Martyrs'. I am admittedly weak minded. This just scared the poop out of me. Not so much the content, but the feasibility. Almost everything in this movie was humanly possible. I can't sleep.

Remind yourself that it's just a movie and logically no ghost, murderer, demon, or monster from said movie can physically harm you in any possible way, because those portraying them in the movie are real people in actuality. Or you can imagine whatever freaks you out in a pretty pink dress saying, "I feel PURDY!"

you have to remember that anyone can make anything in hollywood. special effects, makeup, whatever. its all fake. when your watching the movie think to yourself it just a movie. the people in this movie are actors thats what they get payed to do. and if that doesnt work look up the actors profile online. see what other movies they have been in, or what they look like without all that horror makeup on. hope i helped!

I suggest watching good horror movies with bad endings. There are plenty of movies that are freaky throughout up until the end. Then the ends are so laughable that it distracts you from ever being scared.
I suggest Pulse (the U.S. version) and Descent (with the original U.K. ending).
