How painful is a neck tattoo?

I just got a neck tattoo on Tuesday. About an inch and a half below my hair line.

You have nothing to worry about.

It felt like bee stings most of the time. And the buzzing was weird, kind of went to my head. And it hurt more on the sides then in the middle.

Like someone else said, I've had piercing hurt more.

I think it hurt a lot less then my wrist and foot tattoos.

And it's easy to look after, depending on size. Mine is small, like 2 inches long, about an inch tall. It's been doing great, with having my hair on it sometimes, and sleeping on it sometimes. I really don't have to be real careful with it, like I thought. Just make sure I'm keeping A&D ointment on it. Oh, and for in the shower, keep it protected with your hair, if it's long enough, like don't let it get sprayed directly by the shower head.

hey ive got one on from the nape of my neck going down my back the bottom half was the sorest part would advise you to take couple of pain killers like feminax an hour before you go so you don't feel a thing its really easy to look after just put a towel over your shoulders when dryer your hair so you don't burn your tattoo just get a mate to keep putting your cream on easy peasy

i imagine the neck would be painful. thin skin, little fat, near bone, and VERY sensitive. i have to agree with the first answerer, as much as i LOVE tattoos, depending on your life situation, a neck tattoo may not be the best spot.

Barely hurt at all, but then I like the pain of tattoos, I find it comforting somehow (yep I'm strange). Serious though it really didn't hurt.

Not really painful at all .. I have one on my neck and my wrist and while neither actually "hurt" .. my wrist felt more intense. It's just an annoying, vibrating, scratchy/burning feeling, but doesn't hurt.

I dont personally have one there but my sister does. She actually said it felt like a massage and she wanted them to keep going. Unfortunately its different for everyone but hopefully youll have that kind of luck!

I have a music notes on the back of my neck it did hurt at all. i had piercings that hurt worse than that.

ive got a hawk on my neck and it was quite painfull but it depends on your pain threshold and for women it will be more painfull because women have twice as many pain receptors than men but you can get the numbing cream for it

get a needle and scratch the back of your neck in the same place for 5 minutes,then you'll see how painful it is.
