How much can an employer withhold from a paycheck for insurance?

Example: I signed up for insurance in April, my employer did not withold any money then said because they forgot to withold the insurance for April and May they were going to withold 75% of my pay check for the last week of May till the first week of July to make up the balance. Can they do that?

NO. Did you use the insurance at all during that time? If not I would say they had better not even try it. That is their error

~~Yes they have a right to do that. However, most employers if you explain this would cause undue hardship for you, will set up smaller payments until you are current.

They can also say you should have brought it to their attention that no premiums were being deducted. So, just be pleasant about the error, and work out a payment arrangement you can both work with.~~

Yes, they can withhold up to 100% of your pay. Although it's not really 'withholding' - it's paying them back for what they already paid for, on your behalf.
