How careful do you have to be lifting things in early pregnancy?

Hi,

I took a test earlier today and it had a faint line, YAY!!! I'm really hoping it's right and I am. My Hubby and I have been trying for a while. I'm wondering, though, at my job I'm required to lift up to 50 pounds. Once I'm am 100 % sure and go to the doctor, I'll tell my Boss and I won't have to do the heavy lifting, but I'm worried about until then.

In the first few weeks of pregnancy, would it be dangerous for me to lift that much?

Thanks and Good Luck to everyone out there.

DO NOT lift above 30 pounds.. and even that is bad for you. It is Very important at the early stages! My sisters actually had her fist miscarriage at 6 weeks pregnant.. (Her job as a bartender made her life heavy items when she changed out sodas and kegs and what not) she told her boss she was pregnant and couldn't life some heavy item.. he told her its her job and she needed to.. she had a miscarriage one night later.. Her doctor told her when she got pregnant again.. absolutely NO lifting of more than 30 lbs. I am also currently 6 weeks pregnant and was told same thing by doc because my job requires lifting normally as well.

You can continue lifting 50lbs if you did it routinely before becoming pregnant. The issue is not about the safety of the pregnancy but your own safety. While pregnant your body has a much harder time healing from injury and you can get hurt much more easily. If your body is already use to the activity you should be fine. Certainly let your doctor know what you do at work, he may have some restrictions for you.

Better to be safe than sorry, 50 pounds is a lot especially if you are constantly lifting for this job. Ordinary household tasks are fine, washing, shopping, etc.

they say to not raise heavy issues collectively as pregnant because of the fact it may desire to reason the placenta to tug away that's amazingly risky for mom and infant. you should be ok yet do not do it lower back and enable your Dr comprehend in case you spot any weird and wonderful pains, cramping or bleeding. The working up the stairs isn't a difficulty and unquestionably being in need of breath like that's elementary in being pregnant and could worsen as you get further alongside.
