Chihuahuas, are the any IN DEPTH sites that will help explain what is desired and what are faults for showing?
AKC Chihuahuas, I am trying to learn the desired traits and what/how to look for them. Are there any sites (individual websites with information would be great) that will explain how to determine faults. It would be very helpful to have pictures to explain about the topline and nose length as far as what points to begin the measure and the acceptable length. I know there are zillions of things to consider.
BYBERS - Why did you respond twice to the same question? I guess you forgot to read the question, I did NOT ask advice on buying a dog, I asked for advice on how to web sites that might show actual pictures of the faults that are not desired in the show ring.

Best to find an experienced chihuahua breeder who can actually be a mentor to you and show how to determine proper conformation. Contact your local breed club to get in touch with breeders in your area. I'm sure they'd be more than willing to mentor you.

This is something you learn by looking at hundreds of dogs, in the company of people who know the breed and can help you understand what you're looking at. Not by looking at a website.
Some clubs have illustrated breed standards...but that still doesn't help you much if you don't know what you're looking for.
The internet is not a substitute for hands-on experience with a mentor.

Make sure you look at the pedigree and don't buy anything that is from responsible breeder of high quality animals. Since I know nothing about how to produce dogs that fit the breed standard and I know nothing about genetics I'm going to recommend you don't buy a dog that has been inbred or linebred.

the breed club might be your first resource to use..

talk to members there to get more information.. they'd be glad to show you pics to help explain what to look for too.
