I heard rosetta stone was being offered for free to all soldiers on AKO. Is this true?

Yes, has been for some time.
Go to "My Education" and it's on the left under "Army e Learning"

Nope not anymore. In the past your can do it on my education -> elearning but it is not there anymore. The Army end the contract with them and didn't renew it. From an article on Wall Street Journal "The company lost its exclusive contract with the U.S. Army. The Army will be replacing Rosetta Stone with an internally developed service."

Yes it is. So, take advantage of this free offer. Each level of Rosetta Stone is about $200 or $300 retail.
