When is it appropriate to be hateful and cruel?
The abortion topic brings out a lot of "debate". The murder of a doctor who performs late-term abortions brings out even more emotions. I'm fine with that. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
Here's a personal issue I ran into last night. I have a very close friend who was faced with a very difficult decision involving a late-term abortion. This news story was very difficult for her, as she was being demonized by those who choose to view late-term abortion in a very narrow, hateful way without knowing what some women have to go through. My friend is grateful she had a choice. She was brave enough to post a comment on her Facebook page about the story.
Some of her "friends" and relatives, each of whom know of her deeply personal history and the struggles she went through, decided to use her page to voice their sanctimonious opinions on the evils of late-term abortions, the women who choose to have them and the doctors who perform them. Every one of the people who chose to comment is a Christian.
I hope this doesn't get deleted, but if recent history is any indication this will be gone before long. I am posting this as a question, not a rant, to others on here. Do you witness this kind of callous behavior? Specifically for Christians, is the hate expressed by other Christians representative of you? What message would you have for those who express themselves in such a manner?
I will not lump all Christians together. I know they do not all agree, but I want to know, for my own sake, that these hateful people are an extreme minority. So, are they?
"Tainruadh", if a thumbs-down caused physical pain I'd spend all day creating accounts so I could properly express what I think of your comments.
Darth, I didn't say you were hateful, unless you were one of the people posting hate on my friends page. Thanks for the non-answer. Go back to Rock & Pop.

Unfortunately people who aren't forced to make heart wrenching decisions in life, live in a myopic bubble of self righteousness.
Let your friend know that thier cruelty is caused by ignorance and lack of empathy.
Its incredible that the same people who rally against abortions are quite happy to allow the eternal suffering of a majority of mankind.
Source(s): Edit: Trust and believe highlights the Christian viewpoint precisely and accurately. He clearly didn't read your question, and is so focussed on his own impression of the rainbows and moombeams that exist in Christian living that he writes drivel like that. - Sweet Suzy 777!Lv 71 decade ago

Don't really know you but my heart goes out to you as do many thoughts of hugs to you and your family and friends. It is always sad when a parent has to burry a child. Honestly... there seems to be a consensus about wearing what ever you feel like wearing. How old was your daughter? You don't have to answer just think about it because it might make a difference in what you wear, for example if she was old enough to know what her favorite color was then you could wear that, if not then it is purely based on what you feel like wearing. I have always thought that we should celebrate the lives of those who have left us rather than mourn their passing, only because I feel that there is something good on the other side just waiting for us, so I am not sad that people move on to a place that is happier than this world. So, I always wear something that reminds me of happy times and celebrating with my loved ones. But that is just me. You are your own person, do what you feel is right.

When religious people get over the fact that abortion is a legal choice, then the world will be a more peaceful place. When religious people get over the fact that THEY are the biggest hypocrites IN the debate, the world will be a more peaceful place.
It's just carrying on a long, long, LONG tradition of what religion (christian or otherwise) has done since the beginning of time -- wage war against those that don't believe exactly what they believe.
Seriously, if there is a just and loving god out there, his "followers" are dong him NO favors.

Judging by appearances, the time to be hateful and cruel is when you feel you have the moral high ground and you are bigger and stronger. Then all you need is a dose of outrage at someone who disagrees with you and you're ready to get down to some serious killing. Any "serious Christian" who does not unequivocally disavow the murder of Dr. Tiller is guilty by failure to disassociate. My grandmother was exactly this kind of individual.

Nobody wants dead babies.... even atheists (as much as they claim to eat them, I know they are joking).... the issue here is people get all caught up in this baby thing... they visualize actual living breathing babies being slaughtered... they get emotional and start hating the mother who is doing it. They forget that this mother is going through her own crap... and where the hell is the guy that knocked the mother up? we NEVER hear about him... most mothers that do this are young or have been left destitute by the guy... its rarely some women who is financially able and mature enough that have these abortions (although there are few)......... christians of all people should be tolerant and forgiving... and let their god judge the person or persons involved in these abortions..... but some of them forget that.... they judge... which really goes against their biggest mantra "judge not lest ye be judged".
I am against abortion.. for me... I dont think people should do it but who am I to say they should have that baby... I dont know who they are or what they are going through....
People need to take a step back and think about the big picture here... a doctor was murdered because he was only doing what he thought was better than girls harming themselves trying to get un-pregnant. They do this... women/girls will literally do things to their bodies to kill the fetus because they are destitute, scared of christian parents, afraid because they are young, the reasons are many..... so doctors like Tiller made a decision to stop this insanity and give them safe abortions so they dont harm themselves. Now Christians think this is so awful.... but is it okay when a young girl/woman bleeds to death at home in her bed because she is afraid of her parents and their reaction so she took a coat hanger to it?????
We have no right to judge.... none.... we have no right to interfere... if you really want to interfere than you should be lobbying against fetal alcohol syndrome that is perfectly preventable.... more babies are born unwanted with this syndrome than abortions.... and who takes care of them??? Mostly child welfare therefore your tax dollars. YOu should be demonstrating against that... you should be telling your government that there should be a law against mothers drinking while pregnant... that would be much more effective for the world in my opinion.... but then again who are we to tell her not to drink? Well, we are the tax payers who get stuck with the bill thats who.

Serious questions on Yahoo! are an indication of the degradation society in general is suffering from.
Posting abortion stories on Facebook, responding with hate messages.
One big mess.

Sorry if I view outright cold blooded murder in a way that's narrow and hateful to You. I know I'm a good person and don't need Your approval to realize it.
I so totally disagree with killing that Man it was wrong. But in My eyes he was a killer as reprehensible as the man that shot him down. And evil acts bring on evil acts.
Sorry You view Me as hateful but You have not lived my life and haven't felt the pain I have.

Never. No matter what. If you are a Christian, you should not even be able to feel hate. If the holy spirit works in your life, you won't. You may feel anger, and hurt, but hate is not to enter a Christian's heart.
A Christian is a follower of Christ, so IF you truly are, then you would not hate.

I am not a Christian and I've been a party to two of them but I know that abortion is murder. At late-term the baby is fully formed. So that's even worse. What gives anyone the right to deny life? If you don't want to be pregnant don't have sex. And the only possible legitimate reason is if the mother's life is truly in danger. Otherwise its just sick. You can rationalise all you like but its murder.
