My 55-200mm lens stopped auto focusing on my nikon D40x. Help me please!!?

    or a place approved for nikon repairs

    Make sure that the D40x body is set to autofocus. It should be one of the menu options. Also, double check the switch on the lens - make sure that it is set to A. If you have a Nikon dealer nearby, such as a Ritz, you could go there for some help. Otherwise, you probably have a 5 year warranty on the lens, and I would send it in.

    Nikon has troubles at times with the camera and lens not communicating. This is often due to a poor connection. Remove the lens and clean the areas on the camera and on the lens where they connect. Pay special attention to the little "bumps". Re-attach and see if that helps.
