Who bailed out the airlines?

A few years ago, the airlines were falling apart financially so the government bailed them out. It is famously made fun of in the "it" episode of South Park.

Does anyone remember which political party/ president made this happen?

After September 11, 2001 people were afraid to fly. The airline industry collapsed. So Bush bailed out the airlines, in what proved to me that neither the Democrats or Republicans have any interest in Capitalism.

After 9/11, the airlines collapsed under the Republican Bush Administration. They were subsequently bailed out.
