Cause of sudden lameness?
My 4 yr old Newf is healthy and active. On Sat we woke up and found her limping - she wouldn't put any weight on her front right leg. There was also a lump on her leg and an engorged tick in her bedding. We took her to the vet straight away and they advised it was probably not the tick, put her on anti-inflammatories and pain killers. They advised if no change after 5 days then go back.
Sat night she was restless and wouldn't settle - obviously in pain. This is very unlike my dog, she's so stoic. We rushed her to the emergency vet and they x-rayed her and gave her more pain killers. Nothing showed up on the x-rays so we are now waiting to see if there are any changes before they proceed with further tests.
She is not in any pain but still cannot put any weight on her leg. She's struggling to do anything except lie on the sofa! Although she is much more like her old self and really wants to to play and go out she can't.
Anyone else experienced this. Will it just be one of those mysterious problems that will just disappear? It's just so sad seeing her like this!

Well, perhaps she tore a ligament??? This wouldn't necessarily show up on an xray. If she is a giant breed they can be prone to this kind of damage.
I would ask your vet when you go in next time if this could be the problem, is your vet experience with ortho problems?
If it is a front leg ligament, that pain can last a long time, surgery may or may not be the answer. I have done one of each on my dogs.
goodluck!

Probably a soft tissue injury. A tendon or ligament. Most regular Vets are very poor diagnosticians for lameness in dogs. You may need to seek out a Vet that is more experienced with orthopedic injuries or a Canine Orthopedist. Good Luck.

It sounds like a spider bite. We live in the country with many dogs and it's not unusual for them to come back with a bite that swells. It slows them down for a few days but they bounce back. Feel confident that you have done what you can taking her to the vet and she will get better! Let her do as much as she wants when she wants and I bet she'll start to be more active shortly.

Anal sacks do no longer make for lame hindquarters, get her appeared at via a vet at a distinctive health facility! this could be something from back trauma to pinched nerves, potassium issues, or numerous different issues. Anal sacks do no longer try this.
