You along with everybody else I have heard talking about the human effect on the planet are incorrect. We ARE NOT destroying the planet. The planet does not care what we do, it feels no pain and it does not get destroyed by something a billionth of its size.
Now if you are talking about us making the planet less habitable, then yes we are acting like a virus. We get in one spot and multiply until we have no choice but to move to another place. Making it harder for other life to live yes, but life will be gone long before the earth is destroyed.

If you want to say life is a virus thats fine. Life may even become powerful enough to destroy itself. But as far as destroying the planet goes, thats not realistic.
The planet is made up of the same elements it had before humans showed up on the scene, and if we manage to destroy ourselves, the planet will still be made up of the same elements long after we are gone.
We may be having a small influence on weather patterns that could make life uncomfortable for some off the species, but the planet doesn't really care. Any effect we might have will pass with us, if we succeed in making the planet unlivable.

Well, technically, a virus is just a package of DNA that takes over a cell to make more packages of DNA. We are more complicated than that, tho I get the simile.
The planet is a grown-up and can take care of itself.
One thing about pollution -- 100% of it was here before humans arrived. It is humans and other creatures that suffer from the way we mix it. The Earth could care less and won't miss us when we are gone.

No, if it was it has not succeeded in the 590million years it has had so far. Life on our planet will be destroyed by the inrease in the Suns radiation in about 1 billion years from now, so what is the point of the virus. (other than population control).
What a wierd question

Life is a virus, disease is immunization, and death is only the beginning of a new Lytic cycle.
For all those talking about life destroying our planet - we are only a small fraction of the life on this planet. Think of the plants, animals, bacteria...they aren't harming this planet.
For the answer below me - my metaphor is accurate.

The virus does not always kill the host...
Ebola - One of the most lethal on the planet, does not harm bats or some breeds of dogs!

I strongly and most definatley believe that the world will end all because of us. We've taken it for granted and everyone won't do anything about it cos they're lazy. I try, some others do, some others don't.
It will be our fault.
Sorry to break to you, but it's true.

Human reproduction, if left unchecked, is becoming a cancer on the face of the Earth. Nature's "immune system" will kick in and destroy us , if we don't limit our numbers.
