Canon Rebel XS or Nikon D60?
I want to get a better digital camera (I now have an Olympus D580Z... CRAP!) And I was looking at these two.
I have inherited a very nice analog SLR lens that I want to use with a digital camera. I have seen digital pictures taken with a analog lens and I am ok with it.
I was wondering which of these looks most like film, that is kinda the look I'm trying for.
I have already looked at http://www.digitalreview.ca/content/Nikon-D60-Comp...
Thanks.
The lens maker is Soligor. I have been told that it will work. It's 62mm.
Oh, and the lens was used with a analog camera from another brand. (Minolta).

I don't think anyone read your question. What brand is the lens you have, you will need to buy the same brand camera to be able to use it, they are not universal, if you let us know that then we can suggest an appropriate camera.
The only cameras that can use the older minolta lenses are either the Sony alpha series which I use and are very good or the Minolta 7d or 5d, the 7d and 5d were before they were bought by Sony. Sony makes great dslrs which have in body image stabilization and can use all the older Minolta lenses. Depending on exactly which lense it is, it may not autofocus, not too fun on a dslr, so you may want to look into selling it on ebay and putting that money toward your camera purchase. here is a link that you can look up the lense and see if it would work.

If you decide to look into Sony, which I would recommend, you should your search with the Sony Alpha a200 if you do not need live view and if you do look into the a300. Sony is releasing a refreshed line of these camera in July but there are no real performance upgrades so try to find stock of the a200 or a300. There is also an a350, it is the same thing as the a300 but with higher megapixels and i would advise against it. Good luck in which ever direction you go. Here is a link to the a200 to give you a start.

I got a Nikon D40 for Christmas. It's a great camera, and it's very similar to the D60, it just has less features. When i went to Bestbuy to look at cameras before christmas, I specifically compared Nikon to Canon. Both were great decisions, but i felt a tad more comfortable playing with the Nikon than the Canon.

go for Canon Rebel XS better
For perfect photos, fast and simple, there's nothing better than Canon's new EOS Rebel XS. With powerful features including a 10.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, Canon's DIGIC III processor, fast shooting and more, it's a digital powerhouse. With simple, easy-to-use controls, a compact design, a 2.5-inch LCD monitor, and Live View Function, it's a beginner's dream come true.

I would recommend D60. It is very easy to use and provides excellent images without requiring a lot of technical knowledge.Actually the images of D60 are better and sharper

but if you want one with live views function Canon XS is a good choice.

The D60 Hands down, it is a way better camera as well it is lighter which is a nice perk.
