A question about Guinea Pigs?
I have had two Guinea Pigs now for 9 days and they are still very timid of me. The older one out of the two is getting better but still very nervous. How long do they take to get used to new owners?

It may take a few more weeks before they are more of their self around you but don't give up! As soon as they get to know you they will love you and be very close to you =)

it shouldn't take too long. But just give it some time and patince. A little TLC wouldn't hurt either. Let them roam your bed and they'll burrow under your blankets and pillows. Hand feed them lettuce and dandelions and I'm sure they'll warm up pretty fast. Take them and set them in your lap and stroke their fur and don't make a lot of noise or sudden moves. Let them sniff around and explore their new home. Watch out for cats or dogs, if you have any, and be sure to watch them VERY carefuly.
You will love having them! guinea pigs are so amazingly sweet and wonderful! I just love them!

Don't worry about it! Guinea pigs take a long time to get used to people! I have had my guinea pig for 3 weeks today, and he is still a little wild at times! They will usually always be wild when you try to pick them up, but don't worry! When I pick my guinea pig up, he will be all wild until he is close to my chest. He got so used to me that I can just set him in my lap and he won't run off! Hope I helped!

they need daily attention and handling (to tame and to have them remain tame) so they are not timid of you in not be nervous any more try this out in see if that helps them out good luck â¦â¦â¦â¦â¤

a while
dont scare them
when you want to hold them, dont just reach out and grab them
hum quietly and slowly move your hand toward them
just keep playing with them and give them plenty of attention
dont worry they will get used to you in time
