2 Sahih Hadiths on Muta appear to contradict each other, which one then is the correct Hadith?

Assalamualaikum

In a previous question I asked,

Brother Zubayr provided a Hadith from Sahih Bukhari which mentioned our Beloved Prophet (pbuh) as having prohibited Muta in his lifetime:

"Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 86, Number 91:

…Ali said, “Allah’s Apostle forbade the Mutah marriage on the Day of the Battle of Khaybar and he forbade the eating of donkey’s meat.” Some people said, “If one, by a tricky way, marries temporarily, his marriage is illegal.” Others said, “The marriage is valid but its condition is illegal.”"

Whilst Brother Pedram gave us another Hadith on this (also a SAHIH Hadith) this time from Sahih Muslim where it seems to mention that Muta was actually prohibited after the lifetime of our Beloved Prophet (pbuh) by Omar (ra):

"Muslim Book 008, Number 3249:

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported: We contracted temporary marriage giving a handful of (tales or flour as a dower during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and durnig the time of Abu Bakr until 'Umar forbade it in the case of 'Amr b. Huraith."

Now my question is that these are both SAHIH Hadith, yet it appears as though they are clearly contradicting one another with regards to when and by whom Muta was actually prohibited. This once more raises an issue with regard to Hadith as how can 2 SAHIH Hadith contradict one another and which then is the correct Hadith on Muta?

PS: I sincerely do not mean to offend anyone (Shia, Sunni or anyone else for that matter) here with this question

Salaam

This is the question I'm referring to

Subra’s tradition in Kanzul Am’aal states that on the auspicious occasion of Hajj:

“When we made our holy circulations around Ka’aba and made our runs between Suff’aa and Mur’waa, then the Holy Messenger gave us permission of mut’aa with women. We had to go back to the Messenger to let him know that women were not prepared for mut’aa until there was a time limit agreed upon. So the Holy Messenger told us to decide on a time limit before making mut’aa." (Kanz ul Am’aal: vol. 8, page #295, published Haiderabad

“At’aa has it that when Jaabar bin Abdullah came to Mecca to perform Umrah, we went to greet him. Different people put various questions to him. When there was a question put to him on mut’aa, he told us, ‘Ah Yes! During Holy Messenger’s days, Hazrat Abu Bakr’s and Hazrat Omar’s caliphate we entered into mut’aa (nuptial contracts).” (Sahih Muslim: Kitab'ul Nikah)

“Abul Zubair explains that I have heard Jaabir bin Abdullah saying, that they made a nuptial agreement in lieu of a handful of flour, during the days of the Holy Messenger and Abu Bakr R. We continued uptil the times of Hazrat Omar R when he put a ban after the incident of Omar bin Hareece.” (Sahih Muslim: Kitab'ul Nikah)

we see that mutah was never banned by Prophet, historicaly speaking,

the question occurs into my mind,

Why was Muta banned by Omar, If Muta was allowed by Prophet , at the time of Abu Bakr , mutah was practiced, why Omar banned it ,what were the reasons for Omar to put a ban when it was banned by Abu Bakr and Prophet before him ! why do we follow Omar and why not Prophet !

well if we bring Ibne Abbas then what about the following

That is the reason Hazrat Aasma’s son Arwa told Hazrat Ibne Abbas, “Do you not fear Allah, when you permit mut’aa.” And Hazrat AbbasR replied, “Why do you not ask your mother.” (Zad ul Muad Ibn Keem, vol.1, page 219)

Does anyone here ever use the word of Allah(SWT), Al-Qur'an, as a means of looking up on these issues? It says obey the messenger(SAW), so what does the Qur'an and Mohammad(SAW) say in regards to this issue?

Just a mere revert here trying to sift her way through all the things i see and hear on here, trying to understand and learn! Analyse and make sense out of things.

Common sense also goes a long way~~~ does muta seem like a good thing to do in this day and age? We don't experience the conditions today that were there at the time of the prophet(SAW)? Did the prophet(SAW) allow muta? Where is the proof? More importantly what does the Qur'an say about marriage? More importantly what does the QUR'AN say about MARRIAGE?

I don't understand half the things that are said on here, but do people actually ever use Al-Qur'an. the guide for all mankind, to use as a means of finding out anything these days?

My confused mind and opinions only

    Take care

The first thing you must know is if you want to save your marriage and if you find yourself alone in this desire, waiting for the other spouse to make the first move is the beginning of the end. Learn here https://tr.im/4IBme

If you are looking for someone to blame or someone else to put the emotional and physical work into saving the marriage, again, it's going to fail.

We know that all the Imams (AS) stated that Mutah remains permissible. You find this one hadith in a single book but in all the other books Mutah remains halal from the Prophet through all the Imams.

Abu Haroon gave a sound answer, Alhamdulilah:

    Yes the ahadeeth are authentic.

But one hadeeth abrogates the other.

There was a time where mut'ah was permissible, then the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, forbade it until the Day of Judgment.

'Umar, may Allaah be pleased with him, enforced the final ruling (and note: not all the Companions were aware of this final ruling).

Case in point> From Saheeh Muslim:

'Ali (Allaah be pleased with him) heard that Ibn Abbas (Allaah be pleased with them) gave some relaxation in connection with the contracting of temporary marriage, whereupon he said: "Don't be hasty (in your religious verdict), Ibn 'Abbas, for Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) on the Day of Khaibar prohibited for ever the doing of it-And eating of the flesh of domestic asses.

    Bro! Wazeer

its not that easy to declare a hadith weak. it needs alot off knowledge.

get the knowledge of religion spend some time for Allah. uptil then plz do not comment on hadith. It is a big responsibility.fear Allah and do not play with his books.

  • saying that Allah SWT made muta halal for a few days and then made it Haram later on makes it sound like Allah SWT contradicts himself (ASTAGHFUREALLAH)

    2:106

Whatever communications We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or like it. Do you not know that Allah has power over all things?

Allah SWT either gives us the same, or better than it, he does NOT "change"
