pro's they work quickly, some you can make as strong as you need, example mix stronger to kill poison ivy, vines , things of that nature. con's ,some can have lingering smell, unsafe for kids or pet's until it dry's,takes longer or even more to work when it's cold, the hotter it is the faster it works. nothing much else the E.P.A in recent years have been trying to improve safety on these items, like some chemicals are not being carried till the company's meet certain guidelines

    Pros And Cons Of Herbicides

I am not even going to go for the pro's because I do not advocate using any chemicals, even if the do work quickly. Just getting down on your hands and knees to pull some weeds works as effectively and is not toxic. There are some organic sprays out there that can help to slow down weeds. You can also use worm tea to help keep away pests. If you really must use chemicals, I have heard the toxicity of Roundup only lasts for 3 days in the environment. But there are many ways around using chemicals. Go organic!

Pro's: They're quick and effective. They're easy to apply and readily available.

Cons: They are toxic to people and animals. They can linger in the foliage (grass, for example) for awhile without killing it right away and animals may ingest the poison-laden foliage. Also, herbicides can seep into the ground, polluting aquifers of ground water (wells and stuff). It can also run off in an urban or suburban environment, making its way down the storm drains and into the ocean.

On the con side, it is poisonous to the environment. Nothing good about herbicide.

On the pro side...I don't think there is one. Do it the way it used to be done. Hard work.

my favorite Con..... spray it , kill it... and you STILL have to go pull it out or dig it out to be rid of it.... so why not just pull or dig without the use of the poison??????.... give the soil a break!!....
