If A Kid Asks You: "Is Wrestling Fake", What Is Your Response?

This has always bothered me, I feel that If I tell them the truth (that pro-wrestling is pre-planned) I get the feeling that they will no longer watch it and get upset...and I want them to watch wrestling, ha.

Earlier today, my cousin who happens to be 5, asked me if Wrestling is real or fake, and I stared at him for a couple of seconds, Thinking about what should I say......and then I told him that it was real....that way he wouldn't have second thoughts about wrestling.

Because I figured out that the majority of people give up on wrestling once they "discovered that it was fake."

So my question is this: When a young child asks you: Is wrestling Fake, what is your honest response?

Thank You,

- Jennifer RKO.

You should probably just tell them it's real for now. Because like you said, you don't want them to just find out it's fake and right on the spot so they can think it's not for them then decide not to watch it ever again. Because you and me both know, once they make that decision, there is no changing their mind, especially when it's a young child.

So, let them watch the show thinking it's real. Think about it, how many trolls come on here, or even in real life, how many people attack Pro Wrestling because it's not exactly real. A lot right? Random people on the street, the media, all over. Now, how many of them have even given the sport a chance? Not as much, not even half.

Which Is why I said tell them it's real for now. That way, they can develop an interest for the show. They will learn to love certain wrestlers and hate others, soon they will become a dedicated fan and possibly even addicted like a lot of us are.

And then, when the time is right, and they find out that it isn't real after all, they wouldn't mind as much. Sure they may be a little mad or depressed at first but they'll get over it a lot faster. Because they already have that interest burning inside them. They'll hate that it's not real, but they won't stop because they love the show already.

How many of us thought wrestling was real the first time we watched it? Even maybe the first few years if you were young enough. We all turned out fine in the end. Most of us.

Before this question, I really didn't know what I would say to someone if they asked this; but I guess not only have I tried to help you out, but while thinking for answer I've helped myself too.. lol

Also, I think it might be a clue Vince REALLY needs to make his shows seem a bit more real - if a five year old is wondering if it's fake... That shouldn't be going through their mind that easily, considering their age.

    Anyway.

BQ: LOL, whoever made that is genius, I'm just imagining Undertaker singing this theme live.

    Real BQ: WWE Christian.

Yes, some of it is staged, but the only parts that are are the storylines and the winners of the matches. All of the non-kayfabe injuries are completely real, and although they know who will win, all the athletic and amazing things they do are still 100% real. You watch movies, don't you? Well they are even more staged than wrestling is, but no one complains about them.

BQ- I don't like it at all. It sounds too much like a reincarnation of the Undertaker from 100 years from now. His current music is just so awesome and epic.

BQ- WWE Christian. I feel he is overrated as a wrestler, so the push he got before jumping to TNA was just right for him IMO. I think he played a better heel over here than he did in TNA as well.

Well, my family is gonna sound like a bunch of scrooge's but my 9 year old brother knows that wrestling is scripted. When he was 8 years old, my dad kind of broke it to him. He still loves it to death, so it didn't effect him at all. Does it effect some other kids? Yes. So, I think you were right telling him that it was real. When he gets older, he'll learn.

I was about 6 when I found out it was scripted and I'm still a fan today. Of course, it did kind of take the excitement out of it. Kind of like Santa Clause. When I found out that he wasn't real, it ruined Christmas for me. It took the magic out of it. I now hate Christmas. Oh well. :]

BQ: I didn't watch TNA when Christian was on it, so I can't choose. :]

    --Your answer was kinda correct.

--If a kid asked me whether or not wrestling was real, I would have to sit him/her down because that would be the beginning of a very long conversation. I would tell them the truth but not something that would make them leave the wonderful world of wrestling.

--I think you should tell your cousin the truth but not right away because he sounds too young to hear it. but you also dont would want them to hear it somewhere else and think you lied to them also you don't want them to get to that age where they completely shun out wrestling because it is pre-determined. Some grounds that you might want to cover are

--the truth, wrestling is not completely fake but it is scripted. The moves are pre-determined but the injuries are very real.

--whether or not they love or hate wrestling they should respect it because the wrestlers and divas get in the ring everynite and put their bodies and careers on the line to entertain people like you and me.

--I hope things work out with you and your cousin and I hope he fully understands the world of wrestling.

Yeah the finshes are planned out but the moves they do in the ring are real and if you try them u can get hurt so do not attempet them.

No acutally i think Stone colds music was the best but undertakers is defintly a close second.

I'll simply say to them.. it's scripted, by some parts are written down to do, then some other parts aren't scripted.

BQ: Who ever did that is genius.

BQ2: WWE Christian. Because I've never seen him in TNA.. since I don't watch TNA much. (I always forget it's on)
