good question about sotomayor?
am i the only one concerned that judge sotomayor has had 60% of her decisions overturned by a higher court. i was watching the news and they stated that 60% of her verdicts were reversed by a higher court. why would we put someone on the highest court if she has had more verdicts reversed than upheld

I am concerned about her being so opinionated. Judges are supposed to be unbiased. And she is very biased. I just hope that she doesn't get appointed to the Supreme Court.

That statistic is misleading. Sotomayor had 3 of her 5 decisions that reached the Supreme Court overturned. The Supreme Court typically reverses about 75 percent of circuit court decisions that it chooses to rule upon. The Supreme Court decides which cases it wants to hear and therefore the reversal rate is high.
Sotomayor has authored over 150 decisions since she has been on the Second Circuit.

60% of her verdicts were not overturned it was something like 5 or 8 of her rulings on the court she currently resides on, NOT her entire career. There are reasons that the Senate needs to be critical of ANY judge going onto the Supreme Court, JUST as Obama was extremely critical of all of Bush’s appointees. What needs to NOT happen is Senators playing politics and blaming the republicans for being Racist if they try and do a thorough check. I admire the Democrats that stood up and said we should take the full 70 Days and do a good background check. THAT is what is in the best interests of our country, not just individual political careers.

"why would we put someone on the highest court if she has had more verdicts reversed than upheld?"
Because she's an Hispanic Woman. It's all about apeasing special interests, and has nothing to do with ability.
But then, if it were about appointing people who were qualified, no one in the current administration would have their jobs. The Treasurer doesn't even know how to pay his own taxes, and our president doesn't know the protocol for visiting foreign leaders.
