I want to make asian beef. What cut should I use?

I'm not rich, so I can't use rib eye or filet.

I want to marinate in soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, garlic, ginger, etc. and grill.

I was thinking london broil?

I can't find "flank steak" anywhere near my home, in the groceries here.

Look for a nice piece of bottom round chuck (you might have to buy a larger piece and separate the large fat veins from the meat-but that's easy). It's a great cut for stir fry, just make sure to cut it against the grain. I also suggest pulling the meat out of the pan after it's cooked to md rare, then adding it back in at the end of the dish. You get the flavors of the beef in the dish, but the meat stays juicy and tender.

i am not asian but this is a recipe i have used and it was very good. it was kinda my own 1 pound lean beef sliced to bite size pieces ( tossed and cooked in skillet) ADD : 1/8 cup red wine ( optional ) tsp sugar TBS soy sauce ( more for desired taste ) glove minced garlic dash of red pepper flakes ( optional ) 1/4 cup water 1 bag frozen brocoli ( just toss it in the added moisture will be good ) let it simmer for a little while to thicken add 1/4 tsp cornstarch ( i used cornmeal as i jsut didnt have the cornstarch) mix it up and let simmer if you wish it to be a little thicker then add a little more cornstartch/cornmeal add a little at a time as you can always add you cannot take out. while that is simmering make yourself some rice or angel hair pasta .... when pasta is done drain well and toss in with the beef and brocoli... i like spice so i also added a few dashes of a spicey teryaki sauce.... mix well and serve. hope this may help a little ~et~ i recently got asked to make this for a large party...its one of my specialties...

Don't eat meat. Its not good. Some life is actually killed to put that portion in your dish. How do you feel about that?
