How does it work when you buy movies off of iTunes?
I know you can buy movies off of iTunes, but I keep getting conflicting information. Some people tell me that once you buy it, it's yours. Others tell me that it's basically on a renting basis- that after you finish it or after a few days, it runs its course and deletes itself.
So, what's the case? Because there are movies that I really want, but if it's just for a temporary basis, I'd rather order them online elsewhere.
Is there a way to 'rent' movies off of iTunes, but a separate way to buy them?

Buying and renting on itunes is seperate, found this on the Apple website...
Rent movies:
With titles from every major Hollywood studio, the iTunes Store makes it easy to rent your favorite movies with a click. Standard-definition movie rentals are $2.99 for library titles and $3.99 for new releases. And for just a dollar more, you can rent HD movies directly from your computer or from your widescreen TV via Apple TV. Rent a movie and you have 30 days to start watching it. Hit Play, and you have 24 hours to finish it — or watch it as many times as you want. Rentals disappear when they expire, so they won’t take up space on your hard drive.
Buy movies:
If you enjoyed the movie you just rented, consider making it a permanent fixture in your digital collection. The iTunes Store has thousands of movies available for purchase. Buy your movie in HD from your computer or from your widescreen TV via Apple TV and see every brilliant detail. And your HD movie purchase includes a standard-definition version that’s perfect for viewing on your iPhone or iPod. Most titles start at $9.99. And short films — including popular Pixar animated shorts — cost only $1.99.

So, first you find the movie that you want to rent. Ex. "300." Next you click "Rent Movie." It will then download. You can pay for it using any method. Ex. Gift Cart, Credit Card, etc. You then will have 30 days to start watching it. After that, you have 24 hours to finish watching it. After the 24 hours, iTunes will automatically deny your access to it. You can also put the movie on your iPod or iPhone and I think you will be able to watch it on your iPod/iPhone as long as you want until you update your iPod again. I really don't like how long iTunes lets you watch the movie for. I highly recommend that you just rent a movie from Hollywood Videos. They have more movies and games than Blockbuster.

You can do both. You can purchase movies and you can rent movies. Once you buy it, just like buying music on iTunes, it's yours. When you rent, you have a certain time period that you have to watch the movie.

I don't consider that to be correct
