Why do so many drop their cameras?

Especially point and shoot cameras? Do they use the wrist strap? Do they even have it in place (probably left in the box). Do they know it's not easy holding on to something shaped like a brick? Do they also know that Best Buy will not take it back if that happens?

Idiocy? Having an IQ that is less than their age? May be because they are hard of thinking? Probably because they didn't have sweat to buy it so they treat it with disdain.

    I've wondered that myself, Pooky.

I mean, I pretty much clutch my old Canon AE-1 with a near death-grip when I'm using it, and when I'm not, it's strap is hooked to my photo vest or it's stowed away in the vest. And that's with a camera I bought for $30 at a thrift store!

I don't quite get it myself. It's like nothing has any value nowadays.

And yeah, near a pool or in a beach, either my camera stays home or in the car or gets put in a proper, fully sealing bag and I watch it like a hawk.

I've been wondering the same thing, they also must know that taking a camera to the beach is a big risk or using the camera by a pool. They are just thinking it couldn't possibly happen to them, kind of like getting pregnant.

    Their parents buy the cameras.

They don't use the wrist strap.

If they drop it, tell mommy and daddy that they need a new one.

They let anyone handle the camera.

    They just don't care !
