How much to pay 14 yr old babysitter?

We have 3 kiddos one age 7 and twins age 4, only one is still working on pottying, she owuld not be required to feed or bathe them just sit and play and watch them for say 4 hours max prob. I first asked her and she said $20 and hour and i can in no way afford that. I told her i cannot afford it and she said $10 an hour. Little more reasonable however if she has to do nothing i think it is still a little high. I ran a home daycare and was certified in everything by the state and military post and i only charged $3 an hour per child. For me that would be $9 an hour but i also go if she were working say at a daycare she would only get $6-8 an hour. My friend who watched them for 3 hours and i paid her $20. It has been a while since i have had a babysitter and i am out of the loop on how much to pay i know when i was a teen we got paid about $5 an hour no matter how many kids. Does anyone know where to find the standards for it or have any suggestions?

She is CPR and first aide certified.

Update:

I didn't mean she is doing nothing like that i realize she is taking care of the kids i just didn't know the rate and was looking for info everyone who has ever sat for us has been family or a friend who we re-pay be sitting for so i hvaen't paid a sitter in 7 yrs lol

20 an hour? That's outrageous. When i was little my mom paid 5 dollars an hour for 3 kids under 10. She was a family friend. I would say $5-$10 per hour or find a new sitter

Source(s): When I was a child my mom had a 16 year old babysitter for 3 kids under 10... (paid $5) It was a friends kid I would get paid $10 per session of watching a 4 year old & 2 year old (for 2-3 hours) but their mom would be nearby

Sounds fair and you state she's to do nothing which is not true, she is responsible for the safety and well being of your children! And yes working at a daycare she would make that but the parents pay about that an hour for 3 children, but the daycare owner has to make money too.

My 14 year old daughter just recently started babysitting.

She has two different families she sits for.

    One family has 3 children-ages 7,5 & 3.

Another one has 3 children as well- ages 8 & 5 year old twins

For each family, she is paid about $9 an hour.

If she is cpr and first aid certified, she can ask for more. The general rule of thumb is $8 per hour per child. So if you can get her to accept $10.00 an hour flat, your getting a steal. You have to consider, she took classes etc to do this. In the babysitter world, that's like having a college degree!

I pay my babysitter 12.00 an hour, no other tasks, and she isn't even certified

i'm 15 and been babysitting considering that i substitute into like 12. It relies upon on the individuals one kinfolk it is going from $5-20 an afternoon, yet another its $4 a hour and yet another in simple terms supplies me $20 no one how lengthy I babysit. $2-4 money a hour is stable in case you like a set fee.

    I get paid 20/day for one child. I am 20 and I am certified as well. I would suggeset 20/kid/day = 60/day

$8 and hour for two kids, $5 more(added to total per additional kid.) so 8x4=32+5=$37
