Gears in 87 Mustang 2.3?
Wondering if anyone knows what the common gear ratio is in the rear end of a 87 Mustang with 2.3L and 5-speed. I have one and I'm putting 5.0L in it so I'm just curious, I don't understand the diff tag so if anyone could tell me how to read it. Thanks!
I'm not near the car at current so i can't post the numbers on the tag...........I'm hoping for 3:55 gearing, that is the best ratio for my engine, tranny combo, I just want to know what the 2.3's normally came stock with.
The diff tag is coded, i do know what the different ratio's mean but they aren't on there, it is just a code.........

put all the numbers up. then i can tell you what it says. if i had to gues numbers start with a 3 or a 4 depends on how high. 4 ish is good acceliration but crap top speed. (good for drags.) low 3 is good for cruzing.
