Minimum amount to open an Etrade account?
I've been thinking about getting started in investing (i.e. e-trading, shares and stocks etc). Being pretty new to all this, does anyone know if there is a minimum deposit amount required to open an Australian Etrade account?

Try contacting Etrade Australia: https://invest.etrade.com.au/ContactUs/Default.asp...
I also recommend the ASX web site http://www.asx.com.au/ . If you sign up with them for free, they offer some free online courses which allow you to learn at your own pace.

Have you looked at: https://us.etrade.com/e/t/prospectestation/pricing... This seems to be US-focused but it doesn't really say so.
BTW, how do you feel about opening an account with a broker who cannot give you a straightforward answer to a basic question such as this on its website? Its got all kinds of marketing stuff, promos, and other gibberish, but no straight dope on this critical aspect because perhaps it might be interested in charging you an annual fee?
I for one would be careful in selecting my broker. Esp. if I was not rolling in capital.
