Which car I should buy? Experience/opinions...?
So.. I have been looking at cars, just wondering opinions/personal experiences?
I have wanted a Scion TC for a long time now, but all the reviews I read about it aren't that great. They say that it requires a lot of throttle to accelerate and it doesn't get that great of gas mileage. Plus, I was thinking more about 4 doors to try and keep it out of the 'sporty' higher insurance rates. :]
Any opinions? Preferably reliable, nice looking (my current car is so crappy looking lol), and reasonably affordable (not a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc :p ).
Maybe Hyundais, Toyotas, Hondas, etc?
Thanks so much in advance. Anything you have to say is welcome - feel free to tell me what not to get too. :]
Oh, and I don't know if it makes too much of a difference, but I live in Lake Havasu, AZ and it NEVER snows here. Hasn't in like 30 years. :]
What about Mazdas?

On behalf of the rest of the planet, thank you for not considering an suv.
As far as cars, you can do a lot worst than a Honda Civic, not bad looking and reasonably peppy. The Honda Fit is also very highly regarded. There are also the Nissan Sentra and Versa.
Mazda 3's are very popular these days and rightly so, though they do seem to suffer from premature rust. This may not be a problem where you live.
One car that is often overlooked is the Mitsubishi Lancer. It is a very good car and most people like the aggressive looks.
The problem with Hyundai is that they devalue much, much faster than Japanese cars, so it is not a good idea to buy one new. If you are considering buying used, then you can pick up a reasonable 2-3 year old Elantra or Elantra 5 quite cheaply.

Honda Civic Si Sedan.
Subaru Impreza GT sedan or WRX.
Mazda 3.
The Mazda 3 handles like a sports car.
The model with the 2.3L engine. Mazda 3 "s" or GT have 156HP and have the same acceleration as the Scion tC, but they are much more fun to drive and have better reviews and cheaper insurance than the tC.
Mazda is the 4th most reliable car make right behind Toyota.
Subaru is 2nd and Honda is the most reliable car make. This is all according to the 2009 Consumer Reports magazine.

If you want something a bit different but quality and reliable have a look at the Alfa-Romeo range. I particularly like the 156 with the 2.0L petrol engine. It's fast (135+ mph) great handling and roomy. Petrol consumption is good as well, I get about 28 mpg out of mine. They even look good, Italian flair at it's best.
The model has been around for about 10 years so all the shortcomings have been solved, there were very few.
It's available with air conditioning which you might find useful.

ok, scion is a toyota brand so they really arent that bad,but if you go toyota brand look into a corolla sporty and smart.
or go with a honda civic, stay away from any american car, kia and hyundai they are trouble, i know because i work on them too often!
no snow? must be nice i live in NH it snows like crazy here!
Source(s): mazda is a ford product, so i would stay away! although they are better than kia or hyundai, also try a nissan sentra or altima.
