What is Jesus' sacrifice if Jesus was/is God?
Some key points.
Logically thinking. IF Jesus was/is God, what is the sacrifice in going to the cross and dying if you KNOW you can resurrect yourself?
Also, why cry out in agony and ask for the cup (task) to be removed. Basically, if there is any other way, can I do that? But regardless, "NOT my will, But YOURS be done"
If Jesus was/is God, what example does God coming here and dying do for us? Even though it is impossible for God to die. Jesus set the example for us, to do the Father's will perfectly...
If you had a child, your only child, wouldn't you rather die before your child. In saying Jesus is God, you miss the fact that God did something very difficult to prove his love to us. God doesn't have to die, God is perfect, Jesus was born of the flesh and he knew he was sinful, the only way we would be reconciled was through the sacrifice of the flesh.
When Abraham was told to sacrifice Isaac, Abraham and Isaac both had to trust in the resurrection if the promise that Abraham would possess the land through his seed.
Jesus went to the cross and trusted that he would be resurrected, Jesus knew only by faith that God would do it. That is true faith and our example. He was not God, he was God's faithful servant.
The only one who did God's will perfectly and therefore has the right to have a name above all names that every knee shall bow. Even above the Angels.
I know Jesus was called God after his resurrection, but he can be called that now, since He has a name above the Angels who were on countless times called God. Jesus even points to this prior to his Crucifixion. The Pharisees accuse him of being equal to God, Jesus shows them that in Psalm 82:6 that the judges of Israel were able to be called God.
Jesus still shows God respect in Heaven, because Jesus' name is above all, except God. In Revelation 3 Jesus refers to God as MY GOD and YOUR GOD. Remember God said "I am the LORD, I changeth not"
Rev 3
but will acknowledge his name before my Father
I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God
And the biggest point of all
Revelation 3:21 To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.
Jesus is the "beginning" of this new creation - the first to live, die and to receive life for evermore. (Rev. 1:18). As Paul puts it: "And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence." (Col. 1:18). Christ is the "first and the last", the "Alpha and Omega" (Rev. 1:11)1 of this new creation.
No Chance, that makes no sense.
"Reason from the scriptures"
The question, Kitty, was ....What is Jesus' sacrifice if Jesus was/is God?
The "Wall O Text" is proof, if people disagree that is fine, but I can't very well put a point out there and have nothing to back it up. This is extremely condensed compared to all the scripture points that can be touched on.
Follows, he was showing preeminence to Abraham not preexistence.
No Chance,
I in no way reject Jesus. I reject the false doctine of the Trinity, a doctine the aposltes did not preach. I know the sacrifice of Jesus and what he did. He is my elder brother, my high preist and mediator.
That's another point, If Jesus is God how can he mediate between us and himself? They are not equal, we see that by the rest of my question.
Follows,
I know Jesus wasn't sinful, but he had sinful flesh that COULD sin.
Temptation has to be internal, God cannot be tempted.
No chance,
Let's not get caught on the word "logic" if you do not prefer it and know what I mean by it, let say, "let's think about this"
I in no way denied the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirt is the power of God.
I trust in the Lord, not in my wisdom, I just don't let the Christian church lead me astray. It is MEN. Think about this. In the letters to the first churches, do you ever catch them being corrected for going astray, bickering...ect.
Did that magically stop, are we to have over 38,000 denominations (views on the truth)? Are we supposed to have "One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism"?
Kimpossible,
I am not a JW. Nobody forces me to do anything. I come on here and preach the truth with reasoning from the scriptures. I will not shy away from preaching who Jesus really was/is. Because I have the best evidence, the Bible. The Bible does not tell that Jesus is God, many denominations of Christianity (men) say that. I reject it. Feel free to contact me if this sounds odd to you, I will gladly go through the scriptures with you. No interpretation needed, the verses speak for themselves.

It is a foolish idea, though too long perpetuated, that it was God himself that was sacrificed. The LORD God is immortal, Jesus though the son of God was also son of man through Mary, he was mortal as we so painfully witness on the cross. Through his obedience the Lord Jesus Christ has been given immortality. He is at the right hand of his Father as mediator and great high priest after the order of Melchizedek.
Hebrews 10
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Hebrews 4
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast [our] profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

God does not sacrifice least of all, His Only Son. He 'gives' all with Love, Light and Goodness. Jesus voluntarily asked of His Father and chose to come Himself, to tell us Truth and teach us of The True Father of All. Life here is nothing when compared to what IS. This life we know is nothing but a poor image of that which IS truly real.. Jesus surely knew this from the beginning. He must have known the cost was nothing compared to all that would be gained by His life here. He had virtually nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Besides this, He never really died. He lives and breathes in Spirit, in the hearts and minds of all that believe in the Father. We shall all see Him one day soon. May ye pray without ceasing, love and help one another until this time. For this is most vital to our being, not the past nor future. Peace and Blessings Peace and Blessings

I'm curious... you are constantly on here trying to disprove the trinity. Is this what your religion teaches you to do?
Those from your religion that come to my door do their best to stay away from "Jesus isn't God" theories. I've talked to JW's for years, and when I bring up that I believe Jesus was God, they steer clear of this, because they know they'll lose my attention from the get-go.
Do they teach you to come on YA or other forums and spread this rhetoric? Or do you actually go door to door and bring it up face to face with people? Or only on forums where people can't see your face?
One last point. I find it very difficult to speak to someone about what the Bible says, and what it means, when they're reading a different Bible. Meaning... the Watchtower reserves the right to change your scriptures at anytime, and had done so numerous times in the past. Did they take out the verse in Revelations 22:18-19 that says: "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book"?
You're walking on very shaky ground, and have been highly indoctrinated in the cult that is Jehovah's Witnesses. They've done such a good job with you, that you can be presented with all the truth in the Bible, and still find a way to negate it using their theologies. Man's theologies. When did the Holy Spirit descend upon the early church? That would be at Pentacost. While the Christians were together and worshiping Christ's resurrection and celebrating God in the flesh having walked with them. You cannot have the Holy Spirit in any way if you reject this truth.

that is incorrect
Jesus was not sinful
if he was he could not take on the sins of the people.
The sin offering was a lamb as pure and perfect as it could be physically to have the sins of the people put on it so it could die in the place of the people so their sins were forgiven.
Except the lamb was not Godly or pure so the sacrifice ha to be done over and over again.
Jesus being part of God was born in the flesh in a human body. Jesus was sinless. Jesus lived as we did and was tempted by his human flesh to disobey God as we are. But because he was God the human flesh was put into submission to God.
Being sinless jesus then was able to take the sins of the world on him and die for us so that when we call on jesus to save us and believe he rose from the dead we are washed clean of sin in our soul by the holy spirit.
We are now forgiven of sin and seek to serve and save God.
Jesus was tempted in the flesh that is why he prayed in the garden if there was any other way. Yet but not my will but the father's.
Jesus said I take my life and I have the power to raise it up again.
Jesus also said that before abraham was he said I AM the name of God as told to moses. Jesus was saying I existed before abraham.

Jesus isn't the God himself; he is the Son of God. Yet, . . .
"Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him." -Hebrews 5:8-9
Source(s): 1 Corinthians 15:22 - "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." Christ is the perfect representation of mankind as Adam was: the supplanter of Adam's birthright. - yesmarLv 71 decade ago
Jesus' sacrifice as a human was His death. make no mistake, he was 100% human. He chose to die in our stead, and that has a lot of meaning. More importantly though, Jesus was also at the same time and in the same space 100% God. The most important part of the "sacrifice" was His suffering. Any death would have sufficed, but God chose to come here Himself and experience what it was like to suffer as His creation does in this realm of "free will". Many forget that Jesus did not come here be served, but to serve. Granted, not an aspect of God that many folks recognize, but then, a lot of folks never get past the religion that shrouds the Bible. Thanks for asking friend.

A. the minute you said Logically, your argument was lost. Logic is a tool to understand the physical world, not the spiritual, so fail
B. Sacrafice 1 He became Man
C Sacrafice 2 He died for us
D Sacrafice 3 He died in a particulalry gruesome and humiliating way
e. Sacrafice 4 He died for you.....even though you reject Him
Reasoning the scriptures, includes the Holy Spirit's involvement. It is not solely the realm of the mind. So using logic as your only tool reomves the most important function of understanding Scripture.
You can use logic to apply scripture to the phyical world, but that's it.
By rejecting the trinity, you reject the role of the Holy Spirit, then it is understandable you would be trapped on the sand bar of your own reasoning.

Jesus is the Son of God, therefore a True God and True Man, son of Mary. It is his true human body as Jesus that died inorder to save mankind. His divine state as God did not die. When He prayed [act of humility] as a human to the 'the will of the Father', he, as human is per se obeying His Father, the divine One God. So you can not say, Jesus, the human, prayed to himself. But Jesus as a human being prayed to the Divine One God.

He was True God and True Man, but one person.
Unless you take the cry on the Cross as faked, you have to entertain the view presented by the Gospels, that the sweating of Blood was what a most innocent and sensitive human being would feel before such a horror.

Jesus isn't God, he is Gods son. He is the mediator when we pray to the only true God, Jehovah. It Jesus was God, we wouldn't need a mediator. God calls Jesus HIS SON, why can't some people get this?
