Can you repaint an acrylic bathtub?

I have a ghastly olive green acrylic bathtub with matching surround, and I'm sick and tired of looking at it. The bathroom is very small, and taking it out will probably mean taking out a wall at this stage, not to mention I can't imagine how to get another one in without first taking out both the door, the toilet and the sink - sooooo .... has anyone actually painted an acrylic bathtub, and does it actually work? Or does the paint flake and peel after a bath or two? Would really appreciate some help here .. :(

There is a method out there called re-glazing. You will have to get a professional to do it but it will save you lots of money. They come in and sand and etch your old tub to make a rough surface. Then they spray a new gazing over your tub and surround. You can have any color your heart desires. You can find bath tube re-glazing on line.
