Have you ever converted someone into a NASCAR fan?
I always hear people putting down NASCAR, whether it's on forum boards or t.v. or in real life. But there are millions of us, so it seems that new fans are coming into the sport. Have you ever successfully made someone who wasn't a NASCAR fan into a NASCAR enthusiast? If so, how?

Being out here in Calif, its hard to convert people into Nascar fans, but I have converted 6, and theres a couple more who will tolerate it because of spouses or friends like it.

Yes I converted an old boyfriend of mine into a fan. He had never watched Nascar but I liked to so he started watching. One year he bought me Daytona 500 tickets. After that race was over he was at the top of the list of Nascar Fans. I still see him once in a while and he still loves it. He goes to a race every year.
Makes me sad I get left out now....

Yes I have!!! I've been a fan of racing for years, since I was about 5, now Im pushing 30 lol. How I converted about 5 people is, if they are in my house on a Sunday, the race WILL be on, track pass WILL be playing. If you wanna hang out, you'll get used to NASCAR. Then I would start getting asked questions about it, who's what #, whats a pit crew, and on and on and bam they got hooked lol The more of us the better! High 5! :^)

Yes, several persons became fans after showing no previous interest. It was easy. I just took them to a race. They were fans before the cars even got up to full speed. My Mom's jaw just dropped open after they went by the first time at Daytona. After the race she subscribed to a racing magazine. She watches more races now than I do and it has been over 10 years. Several other friends were hooked at Texas when the cars came by the first time. They didn't make it back around the second time because there was already a wreck and a fire on lap 2.

My girlfriend was never into NASCAR until she met me. We were talking on the computer waiting for the 2007 Daytona 500 to start. This was when Tony was still with JGR so we paid particular attention to them. Well when they were going through the starting lineup they got to Denny Hamlin, well my girlfriend had her finger on the d key and forgot to pick it up, lol. She swears to this day that the corner of her book was pushing it down though. Halfway through the season she adopted Kyle Busch as her driver. She works on Sundays, and usually doesn't have access to a tv so the first thing she does when she gets home is ask me how the race went.

I have never converted anyone but My husband did convert me into being a NASCAR fan. Just by watching it on tv with him and getting to know the drivers during interviews and seeing how many people actually attend the races. Didn't take long for me to be hooked and pick out my favorite driver (Kasey Kahne)!!!

Yes my wife. She was my girlfriend at the time. I took her to a then Busch Series race at Gateway In Madison Illinois. I said stand next to the fence as a car went by in qualifying and feel the power. Then look on her face said it all. She has been hooked ever since and is a huge Jimmie Johnson fan now.

My husband and, most recently, my teenage daughter.
I pulled my husband into it gradually. I had the race on every weekend, either on the TV or the radio, and I guess it just eventually rubbed off on him. He started asking me questions about the different drivers and rules, and why sometimes I was throwing things at the TV <LOL.> I converted him for good with the Daytona 500 where Mark Martin lost to Kevin Harvick. He really got into the last laps, only to feel "robbed" at the end <LOL.>
I took my daughter to the Coca-Cola 600 this year. We saw Elliott Sadler in person at an appearance, and that's all it took to convert her <LOL.>

Yeah my wife. I got married a little over a year ago, and my wife hated NASCAR. I told her that NASCAR was fun to watch because she always saw me watching it every week. I even took her to the Richmond race this year and she loved it. I have successsfully transformed my wife from a NASCAR hater into a NASCAR lover.

My friend used to absolutely hate NASCAR. She would tell me that she thought it was boring, but she never said anything else because she knew I love the sport. But with my constant talking about it, having my Myspace dedicated to it, and finally getting her to watch a race, she's hooked.
