Will Tim Wakefield get his 200th MLB win this season?
Wakefield has 185 wins, just 15 short of 200 for his career. Will he win #200 this season, or have to come back next year?

next year. he won't get enough starts the remainder of this year to do it, unless he gets phenomenal run support every outing.

No.
As you say, he's 15 short, and about 1/3 of the season is gone. True that he has 7 wins so far this year, but he also has a 4.50 ERA (i.e., just about average for an AL starter). Even with a strong offense like Boston's supporting him, that and his history tell me that the 7 wins so far are a bit of a statistical anomoly - i.e., that he won't end up with 22 wins just because he's 1/3 of the way there 1/3 of the way through the season.

Yes, he will do it this year. He is going to win number 22 on the season and 200 for his career when he beats the Yankees during a special one game playoff (those count as regular season stats, for the Legions of the Uninformed).

Excellent question...but not this year.
Tim could play 3-4 more years, but he won't move clubs..if that ever happens he would retire.
He will probably get the 200th next year.
