I liked to sign into IM as "invisible. But, when I sign in to my mail, people start talking to me in a box which appears in my lower right corner. What's up with that?

Yes.
Logging into YIM is taking much longer than usual and everytime i'm logging into my account it's always asking me to upgrade to the new yahoo homepage or to refill out some type of information. I guess we have to remember that it's their job to promote upgrading, but i agree it is extremely annoying at times..even to the point of not wanting to use yahoo anymore.
