Need help figuring out my son's math homework?

Covering and Surrounding

Oliver drew a rectangle. He says the area of his rectangle is 7 square units and the perimeter is 16 units. Do you think Oliver is correct?

Explain.

Update:

Thank you that helps alot!

Would you figure out this one the same way?

Is it possible for a rectangle with an area of 42 square units to have a perimeter of 28 units?

    i think oliver is correct

    the area of a rectangle is base times height, so assuming that the base is 1 unit and the height is 7 units, then 7 x 1 = 7

    the perimeter of the rectangles is adding up all sides so

    7 + 7 + 1 + 1 = 16

    hope that helped :)

    Yes. The area is lenght x width. A rectangle 1 by 7 units: 1 x 7=7(area). 1+1+7+7=16(perimeter - number ouf units around the outside that form the shape)

    Area of a rectacle is length of one side times the height of one side

    Perimeter is addition of all sides.

    So a rectangle that has a height of 7 and a length of 1 would fit this discription:

    7 x 1 = 7 (area)

    7 + 7 + 1 + 1 = 16 (perimeter)

    Yes the rectangle is 7 units long 1 unit high. 7*1 =7 (Area) and 7+7+1+1 = 16 (perimeter)

    yes i think oliver is correct.

    It's a rectangle. If you had a 7^2 units area the rectange would have to look like this..

    LLLLLLLI

    ((^^that is supposed to be a rectangle, bare with me))

    that would make your length 7 and width 1

    you have 2 lengths and 2 widths.

    7+7= 14

    1+1=2

    =16

    that would be your perimeter.

    Oliver is indeed correct.

    Hope this helped!!

    Hit and Trial approach:' There are 4 Zepts(that has 7 legs) : 4 * 7 = 28 legs and eight Zios(that has 3 legs): 8 * 3 = 24 legs entire: = (28+24) = fifty two legs answer: 4 Zepts and eight Zios

    he might be correct because if the perimiter is 16 and the area is 7 then:

    7+7+1+1=16

    7x1=7

    He is correct if the dimensions are 7x1

    P=7+1+7+1=16

    A=7x1=7units squared

    See videos that explain these topics on my Math help website:

    yes. the dimensions are 7x1...7+7+1+1=16...area is basexheight so therefor the area could be 7.

  • i dont think he is right bcus how could you make a rectangle out of 7 square units

    p.s if i am wrong blame my add,adhd, and dyslexia:)

    ohh and i got all A's

    p.s.s.s not bragging
