What should i name my new english mastiff?
i'm getting a english mastiff soon. he is mostly black with a little brindle coloring on his back. he also has a white spot on his chest right under his collarbone area. since mastiffs are really big dogs i was thinking about naming him something funny like cupcake or tiny. i also found some other funny names that i like but are very irrelevant to the dog's features. these are some of the names
Clyde
Cheese*
Louie
Pork chop
Cupcake
Captain Cuddles
Mr. Pickles*
Captain Cuddles and Mr. Pickles could both be shortened to the first word. please give me any ideas :D
thank you for all the people who aren't the "raging" a holes and who are taking me seriously. thanks. i've done a fine job naming my other pets. dogs: titan duke and hooch, cats: prissy kiki and macy, ducks: stanley and stella, parrots: frank peggy jackie baby rupert cleo, lovebirds: mango and paulie and cockatiels: leo and mikey
the only animals i have now out of that list are two dogs two cats ducks and my mastiff

How old is he? If he's still very young, he's bound to lighten up as he grows. He isn't black; he's entirely brindle, just very dark. You'll most likely be able to distinguish the pattern more later on. (I don't mean to be argumentative, I'm just mentioning this in case you didn't know or anything. I can't count how many pictures of dark brindle Mastiff puppies I've pored over recently, before we finally settled on a breeder.)
Ironic names are actually very common these days. Heck, I even know a Mastiff named Kitty.. Wait, two Mastiffs named Kitty.. Anyway, naming him something like Cupcake is totally up to you -- if it makes you happy, go for it -- but it might not have the funny, surprising effect you're going for.
I've never liked the name Clyde, it just doesn't.. I dunno. Eh.
I vote for Pork Chop. I think that's cute, and come on, you're be honoring Doug's dog, Pork Chop!

Some of the names I think might not work for a mastiff, these are beautiful, goofy, and loyal dogs and they need a name that fits that. Out of your names I really like Clyde & Louie, because a dog is like a family member so you why not give him a human name?
But here are some other names you might like:
Cooper, Kipper, Joey, Jackson, Braxton, Colby, Emerson, Avery, Otis, Auggie, Brody, Tucker, Moe, Cosmo, Boomer, Benson, Barron, Bucky.
Good luck on the new pup!

ohhh i am so happy to hear you got a mastiff!!!! i had a mastiff, beautiful, beautiful dogs.
i think you should name him Clyde. nothing like captain cupcakes.. he is your dog! not your imaginary friend/ stuffed animal. don't embarass your dog.
i understand you want humor like naming a big female dog "Minnie". of the options, i see an english mastiff with the names Clyde and Louie. when i was younger i knew another mastiff named, "Zorba" who was a male.. HUGE dog! he was like a tiger. i think maybe something like Zeus? Rascal.. haha.. even Brindle!..
