Well, it depends on where in Jersey you are, and where in New York you want to go.

If, as I assume, you mean you're going into New York City, rather than up into New York State, then there are three main entrances to the city from Jersey by car (or bus)... the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln Tunnel and the Holland Tunnel.

Of those three, the Lincoln Tunnel is probably your best bet, as it will take you into midtown, whereas the other two will take you either way uptown or way downtown.

There is also a commuter train that goes from Hoboken into midtown and I believe there are a couple of ferry companies that will take you across by boat, but I think they mostly go to Wall St.

NJ Transit lines all run into Penn Station in New York City. You can park at a station along the line and go straight into the city, and Penn Station is a good location to getting to most parts of the city.

You didn't say where in New Jersey you were coming from, so I can't really recommend a particular station. There are literally hundreds of stations that you can park at and get into NYC.

What I can tell you is that if you are going in during a weekday, some stations have parking by permit only, so you will need to park at a station that offers non-permit parking during that time. At those stations, parking is usually open to everyone at off-peak times (nights and weekends).

Take the commuter train or the bus. Both them have direct service to and from New York City.

    Good luck
