Since the liberal democrats want the health care bill, let them pay for it. Only those registered to vote as a democrat should be taxed to pay for the bill and only democrats should be eligible for the benefits of the bill. That way they do not have to be part of the private health care system that they despise and they will have their own health care option (that they are free to construct any which way they like) that they pay for. Why force unwilling people to join into something they do not want to be part of? Why do the liberals get to make decisions for other people? Let each person choose. If they have enough votes to win the house, senate and the presidency, they will have enough people to participate in this government owned health care system. With so many democrates participating they will not need to force other people to join who do not chose to be part of this option.

I am considering buying a house. I was told that you get a major chunck of the interest on your loan back with tax returns. Is this true? and if yes, what % do you get back?

Are there any sporting events in the Summer Olympics that are men only events (they do not have a corresponding lady's event)? If so could you name them.

Is the new owner of General Motors (the US government) attacking Toyota? Are the union bosses at GM involved in this assault behind the scenes? What does this say about the adage "The government has no business being in business."?

My company requires that any person being hired should pass a drug test. In addition we have random drug testing to keep employees honest. Anybody failing a drug test gets fired or is not hired as the case may be.

If people who are earning a living are expected to abide by a no drug use policy why is no such rule imposed on those people claiming social security and disability benefits? We are always told that we are sacrificing a portion of our salary to help those who do not have a means to support themselves. Since we are paying for it, isn't it our right to know what we are paying for? Are we paying to feed and clothe people or are we paying to support somebody's drug use?

It is no secret that any drug addict places more importance on his / her drug habit than on basics like food, clothing, shelter or even family for that matter when it comes to priorities for spending money. It is obvious to me that money given as entitlements to such an individual is invariably spent on the procurement of drugs.

Does anybody agree with me that we should make a drug test mandatory for anybody claiming entitlements? (They get their entitlements only subject to them passing the drug test. We can give them immunity to criminal prosecution due to the findings of the test because this can be used by opponents to object to this provision.) If money saved on those declined is used to pay for the testing, we can not only pay for the testing but also save a bundle in tax payer money .

If what they do is natural and normal why don't they make their own babies?

Most insurance companies are private companies. They have a real interest in avoiding fraud because it undercuts profits. If there are frauds perpetrated on a private company who has a stake in preventing it how much more will it happen in a public policy. Nobody owns government money. There is usually very little oversight in government projects because there is a lack of ownership. An individual will be more careful with his own money than he would with somebody else's money. The problem with government money is that it does not belong to anybody. It is just that, somebody else's money. There will be very little oversight leading in greater amount of money lost in fraudulent deals.

Most progressives propose that the US adopt the same governmental socioeconomic policies adopted by countries like Australia, Canada or some western countries in Europe and are striving hard to achieve just that? The US is distinctly capitalistic unlike any other Western nation I know. If you like capitalism and would want to live in a society that imbibes capitalism to it's fullest, you would choose the US. If you are more progressive, you have the option of moving to Europe or Canada or even Australia.

Why do the progressives want to socialize the only truly capitalistic country in the world. If they love progressive governments (socialistic governments), isn't it easier to migrate somewhere where such ideals are embraced. By doing that they would be demonstrating true tolerance "live and let live".

Democrates talk about fairness and justice. Then they propose social programs as a means of re-distribution of wealth and claim that these programs will bring about fairness and justice to society. I would like to know, how does taking money from those who earn it and giving it to those who don't constitute justice?

My wife just got a job three miles from home. She does not even have to get on the interstate to get to work. What is the best used car for her, considering she will use it only to get to work. (we have a 2008 toyota corola for the rest)
