Why don't progressives migrate to Canada?
Most progressives propose that the US adopt the same governmental socioeconomic policies adopted by countries like Australia, Canada or some western countries in Europe and are striving hard to achieve just that? The US is distinctly capitalistic unlike any other Western nation I know. If you like capitalism and would want to live in a society that imbibes capitalism to it's fullest, you would choose the US. If you are more progressive, you have the option of moving to Europe or Canada or even Australia.
Why do the progressives want to socialize the only truly capitalistic country in the world. If they love progressive governments (socialistic governments), isn't it easier to migrate somewhere where such ideals are embraced. By doing that they would be demonstrating true tolerance "live and let live".

Isn't the US a democracy? How can you say that people who want reform should leave, when your country's government is based on the idea that the people control the government? If you're opposed on principle to any change in law, perhaps your own logic would suggest that you should move to a dictatorship. Of course I wouldn't suggest that, because I believe in democracy and think you should be free to express whatever misguided views you like.
And as an Australian and a socialist I take exception to your suggestion that Australia has a socialist government.
me, your country is democratic whether you like it or not. That's what the elections are about. I have absolutely no idea why you think that democracy is inconsistent with being a constitutional republic. Almost every democracy has a constitution, and being a republic just means that your head of state is not a monarch. There is actually a very strong movement in Australia at the moment to become a republic, and I assure you it has nothing to do with abolishing our system of democracy.

@ Elliot..... FOR THE LAST TIME WE ARE NOT A DEMOCRACY. Our fore fathers loathed a democracy, they called it mob rule.
We are a constitutional Republic!
Democracy is two wolves and one sheep voting on whats for dinner, get it ?
sorry, elliot, thats NOT what the elections are all about. in a democracy, the popular vote/the peoples vote decides the president. here, the electoral college/reps of the people decide.
