Countrywide Home Loan Company appears to have packaged a large group of mortgages into a trust which is being managed by Bank of New York. Investors now hold shares in this trust which is publicly held. You can get a copy of the prospectus on line and read all about it. CWALT stands for Countrywide Alternative Loan Trust
