Long summer holiday - need ideas on what to do?
I have 8 weeks off from college and nothing to do. I can't find a job and I can't do any summer/short college courses as it would affect the college course I am on at the moment.
So what can I do during the 8 weeks so I'm not just sitting at home? I'm trying to avoid computers and games consoles. I need things that don't cost anything if possible or certainly don't cost much.
I want to do something worthwhile. I can't volunteer anywhere as there isn't anywhere except charity shops and I don't want to be stuck in a shop for the whole holidays. And I have done charity work in a shop before so I do know what it's like.
I'm also rubbish at art and craft style things and there's not really any sports clubs, or any type of clubs really, I can join.
So any ideas on something to do would be great.
Thanks
"1. go to the park and invite friends to play sports w/you
2. go to a relatives house and stay there for a while
3. go to the beach or to some place you like"
I can't really meet up with friends much for a number of reasons. I don't live anywhere near a beach...can't say there is anywhere I like either
"*If there's a big park near you, it's likely there will be free concerts or film screenings there during the summer.
*Is there something you've always wanted to do, but not got around to?
*Leave a contact card in a local community centre (or similar), offering yourself for casual work. Could be anything from babysitting to gardening."
There are no events that I know of that I'd be interested in. Nothing I've always wanted to do. And I can't think of anywhere really to leave a card, but I'm not good at that sort of work so I don't quite know what I'd put on the card lol
"Call any local businesses that are related to your course. Even if they dont have an actual job vacancy, they may be able to offer valuable work experience (but this is usually unpaid)."
My course is a wide subject. It covers everything. And I've yet to decide what I really like doing so to even go into one part of the subject would be hard. But it is a really difficult field to get into even once you have all the qualifications
Already learning to drive - I actually have my driving test next week lol
As for bikes I have a bmx which isn't great for long distance cycling, but I go all around the city most days while I'm at college with my friends so...
I spend 5 minutes at our library - they don't have any decent books :( No clue why - sure they used to have more books. And I'm not really into sitting and watching loads of films. This is why I spend so much time on the PC and games consoles lol
"You are really negative"
No, I just have a lot of things I can't do for good reasons and it looks negative cuz I can't explain it all properly on here. I want a job or to do short college courses and I can't. I want to do something worthwhile - that's not negative. I just don't have many places to go, interests where I can go out and do something or any money...

I was going to suggest learning how to dive but that's a bit expensive. Although if you've got a bike, you could do some sight-seeing. Last summer I went around my nearest city, looking at it through the eyes of a tourist instead of as a local. If you just change your perspective in a familiar place you can see so many different worlds other than your own.
Another suggestion would be to take up a hobby or go to your nearest library. My library is the worst library in the UK. Half the books are missing, there's no new literature, and the council want to close it down despite what the public wants. But even though the books are all ancient and falling to pieces, some of my favourite reads can be found among the minimal shelves. Just because the books aren't popular doesn't mean they're not worth reading. The publishers just haven't promoted them as well as other books on their list, and it's a real shame because some of the severely hyped books I've read have made me wish I could get that time back. So go to your nearest library. You might be surprised how much time you end up spending there. And if you don't like the books, you can always rent DVDs, videos or audio tapes.
I'm sorry I can't suggest much more, but these are the only things I really know of that are free, don't involve arts and crafts, and don't involve joining clubs.

you dont mention the area you're from, so not certain what's available, but try some of these.....
