I got mine a couple months ago. They suck when you first get them, but they get better. Take a tylenol or advil so they won't hurt as bad at first. Also try eating Jello and Applesauce or foods that aren't dense. Try to make sure that the brackets don't get ripped off and always wear rubberbands when told to because this can lead to getting them off earlier!!! If you play sports, try to wear a mouthguard, but if you can't breathe then try not getting hit in the mouth because this will tear up your lips. It will sting for days and it sucks. Brush to the best of your ability, even between the wire and wherever you can reach because it will pay off in the long run. If you don't you can get white spots when you get them off. Also try to floss. Buying a Waterpik or a Sonicare toothbrush is quite expensive but work really well. Well, goodluck.

Your teeth will hurt for the next few days so I suggest eating extremely soft foods- ice cream, mashed potatoes, soup, pudding, etc. Also, whenever you go in for an adjustment your teeth will probably hurt for a day or two. I can not stress enough how important it is to take care of your teeth, especially when you have braces! Brush your teeth twice a day, and even after every meal if possible. Flossing is key, it's the only way to get between your teeth and it will prevent gingivitis and puffy gums. Everyone wants a beautiful, straight smile so be sure to do everything your orthodontist tells you. Good luck! :)

I had the same problem after i got mine like 2 months ago. you cant really chew so i would advise you to eat soup for like the next 2 days. take advil, tylenol or some painkiller of some sort. dont worry. you wont notice it in like 3 days and you will eat normally and the food wont get stuck in your braces as much anymore.
Good Luck :]

dont eat anything too hard - stick to soft foods such as:
- toast.
- soup.
- yoghurt.
- pasta.
- ice cream.
if your braces rub on your gums put a bit of wax on them (you may have been given wax by your orthodontist) or if you dont have wax, a bit of chewing gum as it will prevent it from rubbing.
take paracetamol, ibuprofen or any other pain killer to try to ease the pain, just make sure you read the labels of the medicine carefully.
once you've had the braces for a week or so, you'll get used to them and your mouth and gum will adjust to them and they wont be as painful.
hope this helps (: â¥

My braces always hurt after i get them adjusted. Just take a tylenol or something and it goes away pretty fast.

I put wax over the entire top and bottom of my brackets because I wasnt used to the irritation on the inside of my lips. Also...advil.
