Clubbing in Edinburgh?
Hi,
Im going out for my 19th birthday in 2 weeks to Edinburgh. I have never been out in Edinburgh for clubbing before. I would like to know what are the best and most popular clubs to go to - quite near Princes Street/Waverly Station area please. I am looking for clubs like 'City' that is in Edinburgh - popular dance, clubby music - not any gothic/rock stuff or underground music stuff. Oh and also i am going out on a Friday night.
Thanks in advance. :)

Id definitely recommend the 'Ego' club. Make sure you to go to the downstairs area, it's a lot more relaxed and great for having a few drinks with friends. Get the seats in the far corner if you can, they're pretty excluded. Just make sure you can walk well for the steps, they're pretty steep. It's at 14 Picardy Pl. So it's close to the center and reasonably near the station.
Another unmissable club is the Why Not club. It's right next to Princess street. It's got an AMAZING atmosphere and the drinks they serve are great. It can get pretty busy late at night (depending if you go on weekdays) so I'd suggest going there first to avoid the main rush between 8-9pm. You can hardly move! Go there first to see it at it's best then see where else to go. Why not is 14 George St. So again it's very close to the station and Princes Street.
Mathers bar is a great little spot, too. That's if you're still up for it by this point! Be sure to stop off there at some point. It's not quite as 'full on' as City, Why not and Ego but it still makes a great night out. It more of your traditional bar/pub but it still offers a great range. Some pretty cool people go there! Look out for the bar tender with the mohawk/mohican, he's hilarious and will really get you chatting. Mathers is 25 Broughton Street, and again is close to Princes Street and the station.
Enjoy your nights out and have a great birthday!! I've never had a bad experience at any of these places, they're all regulars of mine because they're so good. Enjoy yourself and keep your wits about you. Have fun!!
