I think this is a bit bigger simply because the Steelers just won it in 2005, while the Penguins haven't won since 1992. And that is only their third cup, and the Steelers have a total of 6 bowls..

The Pens win was bigger for me.

The Steelers have won 6 trophies in my lifetime, and 2 in the last 4 years. They have an underrated QB and the best D in the league year in-year out. And, last, but not least, the Steelers were supposed to beat Arizona in February.

The Penguins had just lost to the Red Wings last year. The Red Wings had a much more regal tradition - particularly since the mid-90s. Marian Hossa walked off the Pens because he thought he had a better chance with the Red Wings, and finally, the Penguins did not have home ice advantage in a series that home ice was very important. This was a huge Stanley Cup victory.

    Good question though...

The Stanley Cup trophy is over 100 years old! Being the native Pittsburgher that I am, I feel it is bigger for our team and city to win the Stanley Cup. This is obviously our first since 1992 and the fans have been dying to win one since then. Don't get me wrong, there is serious excitement when the Steelers win the Superbowl, especially when we won Super Bowl XL in Detroit since it was our first since 1979, but the fact we have so many young stars on the Penguins makes it even more exciting than the Steelers winning the Superbowl.

    Source(s): Penguins fan since 1967.

the two communities have good defenses and the two have had lapses in the process the season. the two communities have magnificent QBs. The Steelers have a greater suited working interest. The Steelers have offensive line issues. The Packers have adequate protection to stress Roethlisberger, yet he's experienced that for the previous couple of years and been efficient. i might i might want to work out the Packers win, yet think of the Steelers are greater probably. it is in line with probability to be yet another low scoring interest. It does no longer be an excellent marvel the two way it seems - the only element that would marvel me is that if it seems to be a blow out. through fact the Redskins are not in the interest i actually don't have a good decision; i'm leaning in the direction of the Packers through fact it is been longer because they have gained one, yet i actually like it to be a good interest which ever way it seems.

Great Q. I have to say the pengs winning the cup, because they were down 2-0 and came back. But, the steelers were actually the favorites going in to the super bowl. So, the pengs winning the cup is much bigger than the Steelers winning the SB.

I think the stanley cup is bigger because at the coaching change the penguins werent even suposed to be in the playoffs then after the change they end up making it to the cup and not many gave them a chance to win however they were and are a quality team where-as many expected the steelers to win. both were great games against great teams. the wings played one hell of a game tonight right down t the wire.

I think to answer this question you have to ask yourself another question: is it a bigger accomplishment to win one big game knowing you don't get a single mulligan or second chance opportunity, or is it a more significant accomplishment to beat a team several times in a series? I still think the Super Bowl is a bigger accomplishment because of the attrition involved with guys playing hurt and even one bad game means you are out whereas with the other major sports, you have multiple chances to win.

It's a bit of a draw really. The Steelers are the first to win 6 SB ever...which is huge. And the Pens haven't won in a long tim, plus they beat the Redwings at home. They are both awesome wins!

The City of Champions!!!! (and the funny thing is--the Pirates are set (if they haven't done so already) to break their losing record--so hey...Pittsburgh sports are record breakers all around!) Poor Pirates....:)

Wow I really can't decide. I don't know I think I'm more excited for a super bowl I really don't know why. I am so excited about them winning the cup but I was way more excited about the Steelers winning the super bowl.

    Let's go Pens!!!!

Edit: Oh Jims I feel so bad for you now lol.

  • To ME yes...

Most Pittsburgh fans will say NO.

I just like hockey better than football.

But, I say this is the biggest because, we already knew the Steelers were great... we needed a 2nd team to step up, and here were the Penguins!
