If your piercer knows what they are doing then it won't hurt at first, you many bleed, but other then that it'll feel like someone pinched you in the nose. Your eyes will probably water, and after about an hour it'll start to hurt because of the swelling, but if you do the warm salt water soaks the pain won't be too bad. Six weeks is typically the amount of time it takes for it to heal enough for it to be safe to change the jewelry. As for flipping it, most piercers will tell you to leave it up for a few days, this will ensure a straight heal, which is defiantly positive, in a day or two the swelling should be down enough to make flipping it possible, however, don't play with it, if you do you could get an infection and irritate the healing hole, causing swelling to become worse and healing time to lengthen. Don't worry about the sweet spot being missed, good piercers know what they are doing, and will not mess up, because missing that spot can cause major problems, ones that reflect badly on them. Just make sure your pierce knows theirs stuff and good luck! I hope you enjoy your new piercing.

It would probably hurt if the piercer when through the cartilage since it's way thicker/firmer than the sweet spot. As long as you go to an experienced and competent piercer this won't happen.
Septum piercings are known for being easy healers, but take about three months [give or take] to heal.
Not, sure...but if you keep it flipped up for the majority or all of the initial healing period it will heal straighter than if you didn't.
You piercer can also answer these inquiries too.

it will hurt either way. septums hurt.
pain is subjective though.
my friend and i both have/had (i had to take mine out) septums done by the same person.
i found it to be very painful. he felt nothing.
after two weeks mine was pretty much healed. but 6-8 weeks is the standard.
you can start flipping it as soon as you get it.
that is what my friend and i did.
the only problem we had was that there would be crap around the jewelry so it hurt a bit.
