Does running in place help lose weight?
Unfortunately, I am unable to go running outside everyday due to some circumstances. And treadmill is out of my budget at the moment and no room at home for one. So, I'm wondering, does running in place help to lose weight? I've been doing intense sit ups and push ups and leg exercises for quite awhile, and doing cardio, but my weight seems to have stopped at one point. I've been at the same weight for the past 2 years, and no matter how hard I try I can't lose it. I'm 20 years old, 5'4 and weight around 138-140. Maximum amount of calories consumed everyday is 1000, and that is on holidays. Mostly I consume around 800. So, does anyone know if running in place has some effect?

First eat more than a 800-1000 calories a day, your only slowing the metabolism down! Eat 5 healthy meals or more a day. Eat before your hungry and stop before your full. This will speed up your metabolism. Try to avoid eating right before be, if you do eat something light in calories like fruit. Also do not avoid carbohydrates, your body needs them for energy. Brown rice, nuts, wheat bread, wheat cereal, oat meal are some good sources. Eat lots of green leafy vegetable. Try to eat fruits for snacks, remember eat a rainbow. By this I mean eat don't just always eat the same thing. Bananas, apples, carrots, oranges and so on. 100% fruit juices are good too though expensive. Also eat some lean meat for protein. Fish, chicken breast, and no you wont get bulky. You will not need to count calories if you do exactly what I wrote!
Running would be best so if your just not running out side because your self conscious, then seriously just suck it up. Who cares what people think! If your doing this to get the approval of others then don't even bother because you won't be able to keep it up. 30 minutes at a pace you can maintain every other day except weekends. Take the third week off as this is when injuries usually occur. Forth week and on continue as usual.
If you really can't run the yes running in place will work. Using a jump rope will be much better though. With a jump rope break it up into sections that eventually add up to 30 minutes. I would say start out in sets of 5 minutes rest 2-3 minutes. Then do that every other day so on and forth like I stated for running. Good luck.
Oh and don't listen to the all the new fad diets out there as most are overly complicated or just retarded! It's really not hard as people make it out to be with all their nutrition books and diet's and plans and what not.

Your calorie intake may be your issue. Sometimes if you are consuming too little calories or not the right kind it can severely slow your metabolism. Any kind of movement that you get your heart rate up for it beneficial in weight loss. I would re-examine your caloric intake and in particular the protein and carbs. May I recommend visiting a book store and take a look through the nutrition books. I just read a book called The Zone and it appears to have really got my metabolism kicking again. A set of exercise videos will also help. Try using Yoga Booty Ballet. These videos build muscle and that gets your metabolism going as well. The important things is the nutrition and the exercise, so really educate yourself on the nutrition side and just keep moving. You will find your niche and see it come off. Best of Luck, I know it is hard. I am up at this 5:30 am hour to get my workout in.
