Which snake would win this face off : Black Mamba vs King cobra?

The verdict highly depends on the whether snakes are immune to their own type of venom

Now I can think of two possibilities

Firstly both the snakes are Elapids which means that both have neurotoxic venom

so

a)If they are immune their type of venom it would mean that the King Cobra would win the battle since its a snake that feeds on other snakes and would kill the black mamba due to its physical superiority.I have been told that snakes are immune to their type of venom by some animal experts. Also I have noticed the King cobra feeding on Indian cobra which is more venomous than a king cobra. If they were not immune, the result would go eitherways since the Indian cobra can manage to get the first blow but I have never seen an instance where the Indian cobra kills the King

b)If the snakes werent immune to their type of venom, it would mean that the Black Mamba would win hands down since its more quick and would strike faster

Update:

which is more possible?

Update 2:

wow, we have another fan of Black Mamba

Update 3:

aha .......looks like someone hates what I like, LMAO

Update 4:

So Fahad are you saying Meghna is senseless?

Hey Megs ,give a good comeback to him, lmao

Update 5:

C'mon how can a question be senseless for an answer which is senseless according to Fahad's opinion. You argument is only getting senseless

Update 6:

Its against my ethics reporting anyone who has a go at me,I always take it up as a challenge, I have only reported people who made racist remarks

Update 7:

its quite sad that some people can give it but cannot take it back

Update 8:

underestimating people???

I'm not here to show how "tough" I'm to others, all I do is to have amuse myself having a go at people

Update 9:

yeah never underestimate anyone, an animal as diminutive as a snake could end up killing a horse ,lol

Update 10:

good link megs, so I hope other animals like horses understands that snakes cannot be underestimated, lol

Update 11:

anyhow, enough of this bickering around, lets see if Leolupus answers this question

I have a dilemma on this - the reason because I have heard some experts say snakes are immune to their type of venom while we have another set of experts saying snakes are not that way and thats what I'd like to sort it out

    1.Size- Mamba 4/5, KC 5/5

    2.Venom- Mamba 5/5, KC only 3/5

    3.Speed- Mamba 5/5, KC only 3/5

    4.Deaths-Mamba 5/5, KC hardly 2/5

    5.Strike- Mamba 5/5, for KC I will put 3/5

    6.Personality- Mamba 5/5, KC 5/5

    Black Mamba wins.

The Black Mamba is also the fastest land snake in the world, able to reach speeds in excess of 12 miles per hour (20 km/h). It uses this speed to escape danger, rather than catch prey. A King Cobra will not be able to catch Black Mamba.

Black Mamba is very aggressive when disturbed or confronted and will not hesitate to strike with deadly precision. When warding off a bigger threat or feeling very threatened, the black mamba usually delivers multiple strikes, injecting its potent neuro- and cardiotoxin with each strike, often attacking the body or head, unlike most other snakes. It can strike up to 12 times in a row. So I think it strikes better than King Cobra as well. When in the striking position, the mamba flattens its neck, hisses very loudly and displays its inky black mouth and fangs. It can rear up around one-third of its body from the ground, which allows it to reach heights of approximately four feet.

Both Black Mamba and King Cobra have the same venom, The King Cobra is longer but Mamba is faster. The Mamba has short, rear fangs. The King Cobra has long, front fangs. It is only due the speed of Black Mamba that gives it an advantage over Cobra. Otherwise, King Cobra could eat it up, since it is a snake eater and has longer fangs.

If your going by venom, there are many snakes including constrictors that can kill a Black mamba due to their immunity to it's venom, the king cobra is immune to snake venom in most regions in Asia and Africa so it would easily be able to kill a black mamba which would only be able to rely on it's speed in a fight.

If this all doesn't please you, try putting a mamba and cobra together and witness what happens.

Hope I helped in some way.

First of all, you need to understand a few things: They are both NOT cobras. They both ARE elapids. They both have neurotoxic venom (attacks the nerves rather than the blood). The Mamba is fast, but the King Cobra is large, very large (up to 18 feet). The Mamba has short, rear fangs. The King Cobra has long, front fangs. Since they both have similar venom, they could not harm each other with it. Now, this is important: The Mamba is a "bird eater". But, the King Cobra is a "snake eater". Therefore, it is obvious, that if the Mamba did not run away in fright, the King Cobra would eat him so quick it would make your head spin. King Cobras do not mess around when it comes to other snakes. If you were standing in front of both snakes, it is far more important for you to keep your eye on the Mamba "constantly". The King Cobra can only strike as far as the length of his neck as he stands with hood up. But, the Mamba could run at you, and race up your arm so fast you wouldn't even have time to think about it.

King Cobras are larger. Black Mambas are faster. But the Cobra is a snake eater, immune to most snake venoms. So it would most likely come out on top.

  • I don't think snakes are immune to their own type of venom. If you watch two venomous snakes of the same species fight, you'll notice that they never bite each other. They fight by wrestling with each other to avoid killing their own kind every time they get into a scrap - if they were immune to their own venom, they could bite each other freely, couldn't they?

I think the king cobra would win. It's the biggest venomous snake and preys on other snakes, so it's used to dealing with them. The black mamba is faster, but I don't think that's enough to save it.

In my books... the Black Mamba is the king of all snakes!

Sadly as you said the king cobra is immune to other snake bites, so it would most probably win, despite my favorite's immaculate speed.

(Have you seen a mamba move across a piece of veld? It's unbelievably fast and b-e-a-uu-tiful !)

the king copra will win in the face off. because the king copra eats all the snakes. The king copra have very toxic poison so it will kill the black mamba.
