Today I am going ice skating with some friends and it's my first time. The question is: What type of skates, figure or hockey, are better for beginners?

Definitely figure,
they are so much slimmer and easier to maneuver.
It's kinda like comparing roller blades to skates,
blades are just easier,
they're not as bulky on the bottom and they weigh less.
The first time I went I got hockey skates
and I fell about 20 times,
ice skating is so much fun,
but not when you fall down.
So,
I'd go with the figure skates,
especially because you're a girl,
they'll make you more graceful and they'll be easier for you to skate in since we're not as big as guys.
