How do I prevent a Google listing from appearing in search results?

I'm a soon-to-be-high-school-graduate. I've recently taken an internship at a local newspaper. As a result, many articles with my byline appear on Google. I'm very happy with that. However, a result somebody who has the same name as me has one or two reviews for products that personally offend me. While I realize that the site owner has right to have that review indexed on Google, how can I outrank/remove this listing so future employers, colleges, and friends don't see this listing and confuse it with my work?

I read something about this recently, it was in regard to celebrities trying to have stuff removed, stuff from their past before they were famous etc. I think it costs an absolute bomb to have it done. I'm sorry, I dont remember how they went about it but maybe if you contact google in you country they may be able to help you.
