What's your favorite band that you have to put "band" in parentheses after when wikipediaing them...?

otherwise you'd get something totally different?

ex. Boston, Rainbow, Nirvana

bq: now search for them on wikipedia without specifying they're a "band" and share something interesting you learned :)

    Favorite Answer

I'm thinking Prince, but my mind's not where it should be today, so for all I know this applies to my favorite band of all time that I'm just forgetting.

Did you know, Mamasamba, that the word prince derives from the Latin word "princeps"?

    Journey.

Wouldn't say they're my favorite... but I was looking for something by them on ebay and it took awhile because the word "journey" is a part of some other bands' names, too!

Haha! Here's what wiki had to offer... at least the band is the 2nd choice:

A journey is a trip or voyage. It can also refer to:

    * Journey (band), an American rock band

o Journey (album), their 1975 debut album

o Journey (video game), an arcade game which featured the band

o Journey Escape, a video game for the Atari 2600, which also featured the band

    * Journey (film), a short film written and directed by Christine Shin

    * Journey (1995 film), a 1995 TV film

    * Journey (W-inds. album), an album by Japanese band w-inds

    * Journey (computer game), a 1989 computer game

    * Journey: The Adventures of Wolverine MacAlistaire, a comic by William Messner-Loebs

    * Journey 3-D, a 2008 3D film adaptation of Journey to the Center of the Earth

    * Dodge Journey, a 2009 mid-sized "crossover" vehicle, the brand's first

    The Scorpions.

Scorpions are predatory arthropod animals of the order Scorpiones within the class Arachnida. There are about 2,000 species of scorpions, found widely distributed south of about 49° N, except New Zealand and Antarctica. The northernmost part of the world where scorpions live in the wild is Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey in the UK, where a small colony of Euscorpius flavicaudis has been resident since the 1860s. The word scorpion derives from Greek σκορπιός - skorpios

    Oasis

People who live in an oasis use every bit of land. Water has to be used carefully; the fields must be irrigated to grow plants like dates, figs, olives, and apricots. The most important plant in an oasis is the date palm which forms the upper layer. These palm trees provide shade for smaller trees like peach trees, which form the middle layer. By growing plants in different layers, the farmers make best use of the soil and water. Many vegetables are also grown and some cereals, such as wheat, barley and millet are grown where there is more moisture.

    Queen :-)

BA ~ * Queen regnant, a female monarch, equivalent to the male title king; she is referred to informally in the third person as "The Queen." Today's monarchs often referred to as such include:

    o Beatrix of the Netherlands

o Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms

    o Margrethe II of Denmark

    * Queen consort, the wife of a reigning king without equal power

    * Queen dowager, a former queen consort whose husband has died

    * Queen mother, either a queen dowager, or a queen regnant who has abdicated, whose son or daughter has become the monarch

Yup, I don't really understand a word of that so I can't claim that I've "learned" it but hopefully someone will learn something new from this :P

LOL I've gotten to the point where I always put "band", just to be safe.

    MQ-Neurosis

BQ-after doing a generic search for Neurosis on Wikipedia, I've come to the conclusion that I have issues.

    Kansas

Kansas has 627 incorporated cities. By state statute, cities are divided into three classes as determined by the population obtained "by any census of enumeration." A city of the third class has a population of less than 5,000, but cities reaching a population of more than 2,000 may be certified as a city of the second class.

    But a few:

    Tool

    Neurosis

    Mastodon

    The Ocean

    Gojira

    Isis

    Pelican

    BA:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isis

There exists a Fellowship of Isis that is "devoted to promoting Awareness of the Goddess". Very strange!
