Religion: how do we know which one is the correct one?

Okay, I've been doing some "soul searching" on the net. Read up on Atheism, Islamic, Christianity, and Judaism; the main religions of the world.

Now, I've been reading stuff on Atheism and feel that atheists (some, so don't start yelling at me) talk out their a$$ sometimes. Many of the things we "know" as reality is theories. These theories are probable, educated (for lack of a better term) guesses on how the universe works, began, etc. Nothing is written in stone. Things are being dis-proven every day. Things are being learned everyday. Take dark matter for example. (For the small amount of facts I know about it) It is a relatively new idea/discovery. Not many things are known about this. Before, we never could have imagined dark matter, its a "whole new outlook on the universe" somewhat.

And if you want to, feel free to take a look at these videos that attempt to prove that a God could exist using logic- to an extent.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2RD4vTuPN0&feature...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNocC85MU6w&feature...

Now, I know a lot of you are going to say that those videos contain nonsensical, misleading, uneducated drivel, but whatever.

But, this question is not just on that subject of Atheism;

So, lets say that a god or higher power does exist, but how do we know about them? Religions. But which one is true? I have concluded that the three main religions of the world are very alike.

Christianity is somewhat like the Islamic faith, in fact, some Christians are considered by some Muslims to be a follower- to an extent. They both believe in one God, both believe in God's angels, a Heaven (Paradise) and a Hell, the end of days, believe that Jesus was sent by God (though Muslims believe he was just a messenger, not the son of God), among other things.

Jews are half Christians only believing in the first testament of the Bible.

So, Judaism is part Christianity and Islamic is part Christianity and vice-versa.

So, if a higher power(s) do(es) exist, what is true about him/her/them?

Are they Jewish, Christian, or Muslim? Or since these religions are so close, is it possibly a mixture? Or is it none of these at all and something completely different? Or is there no god at all, this all happened by chance and we have no meaning?

Just some thoughts. Some of this could be wrong. Sorry if I come across biased. Please feel free to attempt to enlighten me.

And one last thought whether your religious, spiritual, or atheist/agonistic: Why is there something rather than nothing?

Whatever works best for you is best for you.

I have skimmed all the answers that are up as of my starting my answer. I may eventually read all of them, but probably not. Some of them may prove themselves worthy of a scan, and if I have the time, I may do just that. I am not going to do your study or your investigation for you, but I think I can help you to discover the truth. See what you think about some or all of the points, statements or quotes I will be offering as my answer to your question.

    ----------------------

Some people claim all faith is blind, but my faith and my Faith is a carefully considered, carefully reasoned and very reasonable, rational and defensible faith. Were atheist Stephen Roberts (1901-1971) standing in front of me this moment, I would say to him, “I contend that we are both men of faith. I just have faith in one more thing than you do, and for very good reason. When you fully understand why I also dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I believe in mine, and you will believe also." -- B. Knott Wildered (Not my real name, but the quote is mine.)

    ************************

God has given man the eye of investigation by which he may see and recognize truth. He has endowed man with ears that he may hear the message of reality and conferred upon him the gift of reason by which he may discover things for himself. This is his endowment and equipment for the investigation of reality. Man is not intended to see through the eyes of another, hear through another's ears nor comprehend with another's brain. Each human creature has individual endowment, power and responsibility in the creative plan of God. Therefore depend upon your own reason and judgment and adhere to the outcome of your own investigation; otherwise you will be utterly submerged in the sea of ignorance and deprived of all the bounties of God.

    (Abdu'l-Baha, Foundations of World Unity, p. 76)

There can be no doubt whatever that the peoples of the world, of whatever race or religion, derive their inspiration from one heavenly Source, and are the subjects of one God. The difference between the ordinances under which they abide should be attributed to the varying requirements and exigencies of the age in which they were revealed.

    (Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 217)

As all mankind have been created by the one God, we are sheep under the care and protection of one Shepherd. Therefore, as His sheep we must associate in accord and agreement. If one single lamb becomes separated from the flock, the thoughts and efforts of all the others must be to bring it back again. Consequently, Bahá'u'lláh proclaimed that, inasmuch as God is the one heavenly Shepherd and all mankind are the sheep of His fold, the religion or guidance of God must be the means of love and fellowship in the world. If religion proves to be the source of hatred, enmity and contention, if it becomes the cause of warfare and strife and influences men to kill each other, its absence is preferable. For that which is productive of hatred amongst the people is rejected by God, and that which establishes fellowship is beloved and sanctioned by Him. Religion and divine teachings are like unto a remedy. A remedy must produce the condition of health. If it occasions sickness, it is wiser and better to have no remedy whatever. This is the significance of the statement that if religion becomes the cause of warfare and bloodshed, irreligion and the absence of religion are preferable among mankind.

Bahá'u'lláh has declared that religion must be in accord with science and reason. If it does not correspond with scientific principles and the processes of reason, it is superstition. For God has endowed us with faculties by which we may comprehend the realities of things, contemplate reality itself. If religion is opposed to reason and science, faith is impossible; and when faith and confidence in the divine religion are not manifest in the heart, there can be no spiritual attainment.

There can only be One True Rule of Faith. God prompts every soul to find it. Know this is first.

Original Sin closed Heaven. A redeemer was promised. Enemies taunted the believers. Israelites abandoned their promise, and rewrote the Sacred Books. The Torah no longer promises the redeemer. A remnant of believing Israelites remained, hidden.

When the Messiah came, the Torah followers rejected Him. They did not want a LOGOS, or “God Made Man” Who fulfilled the prophecies --now rejected by them. His was the most astonishing Life ever lived! He performed Miracles. He preached a Divine Truth. They ignored His divine miracles and preaching.

Not impressed, they listened but walked away. He instituted Sacraments, the world was bored. He began His Church and gave It to the Apostles with His mission, "go and preach, convert the world." Followers deserted Him. He offered Himself as Sacrifice to remove Original Sin, to open the Gates of Heaven, fulfilled all prophecy, yet His enemies prosecuted, convicted, tortured and executed Him on the prophesied Cross. He died for them. His Apostles scattered. He was Risen as promised. Performed Miracles. Apostles and disciples, a mere remnant, believed Him. He ascended to Heaven. His Church remained a remnant of faithful, hidden. Would this time God’s Doctrine remain?

For 1,958 years the True Rule was HELD and believed. Then the Torah-Vaticans constructed a new “torah” of their own--they "changed the rule." Vatican 2 became the New Jewish Council, producing the Second Torah, which changes itself into the False Rule. What had been holy became unholy, and once again, through apostasy, denies the divine Mission. The Torah-Vaticans constructed rules never given by Christ, who did not "found" Vatican 2. It is even more disguised than was the Torah. The Torah openly claimed it was "new." Vatican 2 Torah pretends it is not. In that, the Final Deception has become the worst, worse than what the pharisees ever did.

    Well, that's the story.

You find the True Rule. It has to remain. Find the remnant of believers who remain, hidden, just as the hidden Israelites did. God first guided the Israelites, then Christ brought them His Church, guided it through “missteps,” against enemies and persecutions. Christ still stands behind His Rule. He did not change. He must remain, until the end.

Those hidden in the New remnant, just like the hidden Israelites who believed & waited, will never give up. The True Israelites of the House of David wanted their Messiah. They knew the Old Testament truths were fulfilled. They knew the Messiah had come --they knew the Torah was wrong. They had become the persecuted hidden remnant. At the Judgment Christ will give them the second chance because God "hath a memory of them." Similarly, a hidden, believing Catholic remnant remains. Christ knows them as traditional Catholics. They will never give up.

Which religion is the correct religion? That would be the million dollar question. The sad thing is that every religion claims to be correct and that the other religions are incorrect. To be honest you do not need a religion to demonstrate peace, love, harmony, or compassion. Righteousness on the other hand is open to interpretation from many different points of view.

I have not myself done much study on other religions, because I had

a life changing new birth experience through Jesus that gave me a real and personal relationship with God.

Once you know Him there is no more need for searching, however I have heard many scholars teach on this subject. The bible does say in

    1 Timothy 4

1 BUT THE [Holy] Spirit distinctly and expressly declares that in latter times some will turn away from the faith, giving attention to deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach,

2 Through the hypocrisy and pretensions of liars whose consciences are seared (cauterized),

So, I believe some doctorines have been started by demons themselves as the scripture says, but others I believe have just been corrupted by the traditions of man.

I had a book about a mans journey to find God. He studied and practiced several different ones, but settled with one that has to do with Yoga, don't remember the name, anyway he worked as a yoga master for years and taught others this religion.

After some time he relized he still was not satified so He prayed and told God if he was real to show Him the way. To make a long story short God answered his prayer that day in a supernatual way, but thru a christian Man.

He told his followers in Yoga that he had mislead them and that he would no longer work as a yoga master because he had finally found God thru Jesus. He is now a Christian minister.

I'm sorry I can't remember his name or the book, but he knows all there is to know about alot of different religions.

I do not think there is any "right: religion. Every one has its similarities and its differences. Any religion or view that teaches that someone is less worthy like women or some one has less rights or not as good is not a good religion. They all do that so I guess all religions have there problems.

A man was dying of TB. He lived in South Korea and he called out to every god he knew for help.

    None of them answered.

Then out of desperation, he prayed "If there is ANY God please show me how to die."

That night a woman came to his house. His mother let her in. She was a born again Christian and she told them both about Jesus and His Father. both the man and his mother prayed and became Christian that night.

God miraculously healed the man and now he is the pastor of the largest Christian church in the world.

I think the man's name is Dr. Cho.

You write the name of each religion on a small piece of paper and arrange them in a circle. Then you get an empty beer bottle, and spin it.

This is as reliable as any religious vision.
