can i buy the iphone 3g for the 99$ price then unlock it myself?

I'm planning on getting the iphone but i want to stay with my carrier (t-mobile). But then again i dont want to spend 600$ for an unlocked iphone when i can unlock it myself...

    I dont think this will help you but you can afford iphone for $99 only if you want to sign a 2 year contract with att,and yes,you then able to unlock it to use with other service,but you will still have to pay att for the service you dont use at all for 2 years because you use service from timo.

    No, simply because the $99 price (unless it's on eBay or something) comes with a 2 year agreement with AT&T.

    Otherwise, yes. Use PWNAGE to unlock it.

    you won't be able to purchase one at settlement cost from AT&T, apple etc without activating it then and there. look on eBay or Craigslist for one, for the reason that they are the two already unlocked or via their settlement era
